How do they grow up?

How old does a pet have to be before it grows up out of the puppy, kitten, pony, etc stage?

Just cause I'm lazy today I thought I'd ask you guys--can you change the name of one if you adopt them? I mean "play with goober" is not something I really want flashing on my screen although he is soooooo cute.

Yes, you can...you can change the name, gender, colour, even what type of pet it is...of course like everthing here at CF...it will cost you blessings.
