How Do Quakers Fit With Anabaptists?

They do not share an historical or theological link. Quakerism grew within the Puritan tradition with the emphasis on a personal encounter with the living God, being led by the 'inner light', personal accountability and gender equality. What Quakerism shares with the annabaptist tradition is an anti-war stance because they believe strongly in all men being brothers. I'm sure someone else in here can give a much more informative response with web links but that's the bare bones as I understand it.

I would.

If you've never been to one before you might find it a little strange. A silent meeting is just that - silent. There is no order of worship, no music, no preaching, nothing that you would get in most denominational services. A friend might stand to speak or pray briefly as the Spirit leads otherwise everyone will remain in meditative silence. Some may read their bible silently.

This is still my favourite way to worship. Sadly too many churches are busy filling the silence till there is no room left to hear the still small voice of God.

Just my think. I am not rubbishing other forms of worship as that's how I participate in worship most Sundays as I no longer have access to a Meeting.

I like silent meetings. The Friends church I used to go to had silent meetings once a week on a week night. Most of the time, the silence was broken with wisdom and scripture, occasionally it was interrupted with nonsense, but it was pretty rare. Some silent churches are more liberal than others. Some condone and even celebrate homosexuality and abortion. Some do not. But it's an interesting experience nonetheless. :)
