  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How do I talk to Him?

It really doesn't matter how you pray. Honestly, it is like talking to a good friend. Open your heart and tell him anything and everything. God is such a good listener! A good place to help you pray would be reading Matthew 6: 5-13.

This is how I pray now. I pray for the world and its concerns, Individual prayers by friends and family and lastly prayers for myself. I chat about concerns on my mind about my day and such...ect.

Lastly, I would like to leave you with this:

1 John 5:14-15
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of him

I want to ask God and Jesus to forgive my sins, but I'm not sure how to talk to Them. I know that prayer is how you speak with Them, but prayer really isn't a strong point of mine. Does it matter how good you are at praying? Or will They listen no matter what?

Go in a quite place: you room, or an empty church

Do a short prayer for the presence of the Lord, something like "My Lord and my God, I firmly believe that you are here, that you see me, that you hear me. I adore you with profound reverence, I ask your pardon for my sins, and the grace to make this time of prayer fruitful" with your words

Recite a "Our Father" (Lord's Prayer), and you can start praying, perhaps aided by a few verses of psalm (psalm 51 is the best for repentant, but also palm 65 "O you who hear prayer, to you all men will come. 3 When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions.")

You can find more information on personal prayer here

You talk to Him like you would anyone else. You can express concern, worries, thoughts, everything. The Bible shows us how to pray, The Lords Prayer. But I would be careful not to make prayer mechanical. Not to just recite the same prayers each day, but to make them personal to you. You can use them as a basis and then add in how you feel, personal prayers, and prayers for others.

The Bible tells us that JEsus is our friend - He is only a heartbeat away - He knows your heart - God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are 3 in one - you just talk to God as you talk to a Friend. You don't have to be on your knees with Bible in hand to talk to God.

Just ask Jesus to come into your heart and be the Lord of your life and repent of your sins - after this you are a Child of God and the Bible tells us that NO ONE can snatch you out of the hand of God. Jesus is by your side at all times, the Holy Spirit leads us in all that we do - so just walk with the Joy of the Lord and let His light shine through.

Don't worry about how you pray - just talk to Jesus - pour out your heart to Him - He already knows your heart, so always stay in close contact with Him and let the Holy Spirit guide you - that still small voice that leads you. Jesus is smiling down on you right now because of a heart that wants to follow Him.

Just talk to him like you would talk to a friend in the room with you.

With words.

Or, just in your mind.

He is God.

If you are genuinely seeking Him, He will hear you and He will respond.

He loves you so much !
It's true!!

God loves hearing you talk to Him, sweetie - even if you can't always find eloquent words or make great speeches. He just wants you to talk... and remember that He knows what you want to say, He sees your heart, and He is delighted with your desire to talk to Him.

Praying for you.
