How do I know what God wants me to do??

Hey I really dont know what to do!!! Every summer I go out to an orphanage in Portugal and the team is going out this christmas to deliver shoeboxes and I really thought I was ment to go! I love the kids in the orphanage and they are now close friends! One certain boy who is 15 and finds it hard to communicate with people attached to me and he always talked with me but he has started 2 behave badly and is maybe even going to have to move to another orphanage and i'm worried he will be gone by next summer and I wont be able to see him! My mum and Dad arnt very happy about me goping out as I am i the middle of my a-levels and I would not be home until January the 3rd and my exams start on the 7th! I pray every day but i'm still not getting a definate answer from God! the only thing thats stopping me is the money to get out there! How can you tell if its what God wants you to do??

maybe u can write to him....to stay in touch on different way untill he is back...
Honestly, i have dillema about that too (about whats God wanats). Only i can say that His wishes can be very different than ours...
Maybe u should just look resonebly on that....and say, if my visit to him will make me fail on my exames, and that boy isn't in danger, maybe that s not very good idea....And maybe u can call him sometimes and write a letter as i said before....

Go speaks to His people in diverse ways. Just fellowship with the Holy Spirit and you will realize the small still voice of the Lord. He can also speak through the bible verses

I dont believe God will keep you guessing. He will make it clear to you, but until he does I would stay under authority and just keep in prayer. Pray for the young boy and trust God to do what he needs to for him. Just know that God works all things out for the good and whatever happens if you are seeking out God and obeying it will be fine, you will stay in his will. Many times he gives us passions which show us what he wants us to do, but many times we think it means we have to RIGHT NOW which sometimes is true and sometimes isnt. Just come before God willing to go and willing to stay and see what happens.

Hi, I know the feeling. However, I think you should be careful if you end up thinking about only this particular boy. That may pretty well be the flesh that's involved.

I've been at an orphenage too (in Asia) and I tend to be most fascinated by the young girls. But again, if our desire is to walk the path the Lord has for us, we should be very careful because Satan wants us to walk somewhere else.

Ask God for wisdom and seek his advice through prayer and fasting.

Make sure that what you want to do is from a pure heart
and you can be sure that it's the Holy Spirit leading you.

What eyeballdub said. It's very easy to do something that's ostensibly the right thing, but for the wrong reasons. And then you'll arrive and not have your heart in it! Just make sure the desire to do so comes from deep down inside.
