Thank you for making my point that the Catholic Church has many conditions placed upon its members before they can hope to enter heaven.
God decides who goes into Heaven. God has revealed much to His Church. You seem confused about purgatory. Purgatory has nothing to do in regard to who God saves or does not save.

Purgatory is a condition which is believed to be a requirement for the vast majority of Catholics to endure before they can enter heaven, is it not?

It is the purifying fire spoken of in the Bible, the Bible does not say anything about a "condition." We know very little about it, even whether it is a place or a state.

The point is not Purgatory per se, but all of the conditions required in order for a Catholic to even hope to enter heaven. If, after a (relatively) saintly life, a Catholic commits a mortal sin and dies before confessing it to a priest, they get an automatic go to hell card and do not collect $200 as they pass Go.

Please do not make make light of what God has ordained. We are judged at the moment of death. This judgment is made by Jesus.

If we fully repent (whether we make it to a priest or not) God will save us: Heb 7:25 Therefore, he (Jesus) is always able to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to make intercession for them.

If you gravely sin against God and do not repent you will face the reality of hell. It is no joke.

Recall Revelation where it says nothing unclean can enter Heaven.

The cleansing fire spoken of in the Bible is not limited to formal members of the Catholic Church:

1 Cor 3:12-15 Now if any one builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble - each man's work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

As I've said, we know very little about this fire, whether it is a state or a place. I have no idea as to the numbers, God has not revealed this to us.
