How do I know if I've been healed?

I've suffered from ADD my entire life, though I didn't know that's what was wrong with me until a couple years ago. I was feeling particularly "foggy" in my head the past couple days. I was watching The 700 Club yesterday, and when they were praying for people's healing, I prayed along, asking God to clear my mind. The lady on the show (can't recall her name) had a word of knowledge that someone who had a problem with their brain "misfiring" had been healed.

Since this isn't a physical condition, how do I know if she was talking about me?

I've thanked God anyway, and asked him to show me if I really was healed. Either way, I will trust him. I just want to know for sure, so I can share my story with others.

Thank you,
Sarah

Actually, ADD and ADHD are physical problems.

Although what goes on on the 700 Club is a bunch of garbage, designed to seperate you from your money, God still does heal according to His good pleasure.

I would go to the doctor who diagnosed you, or a doctor who is familiar with that diagnosis and your medical history and speak with him.

Well, thanks for the words of wisdom! Not.

Her name is Terry. I didn't think that detail was particularly important.

I've been watching the 700 Club for a few months now, and for you to say that they are just trying to separate us from our money is pretty ignorant. They don't tell you to give. They ask you. They are trying to spread the gospel's good news to the rest of the world through their programs. Their Operation Blessing is currently aiding victims of the hurricanes in Florida, among many other things.

I don't have a church that I'm able to attend regularly right now, and to hear the testimonies of the people they feature on the show is very uplifting to me. My question wasn't whether you like the show, or not, I was asking for some advice.

My condition is not physical. It is mental. I cannot see my brain activity to know if it has changed. It's not like I have a deformity at which I can look to see a change. I do not have physical pain which I would notice if it went away.

If you don't have any actual advice for me, please don't say anything at all. I wanted words of encouragement, not discouragement. I want to know for sure that I have a testimony of God's power and love that I can share with others. I know God must have a reason, a purpose for my life. I just don't know what that is. I get discouraged enough not knowing what my path is, I don't need other Christians giving me more reason to doubt myself. Aren't we here to build each other up?

Satan is trying to make me doubt. I WILL NOT! I trust God. I know that he will do what is best for me.

Yeah, I like the 700 Club too.

Anyway, to answer your question, I suppose you'll know you have been healed if the sickness does not recur.

Rather than trying to fill yourself up with faith, to pre-empt a miracle, be open to alternative "cures" God would rather use for your condition. I've noticed that people who "suffer from ADHD" will blame it for every shortcoming, bad habit, and bad character trait in their lives. Your condition is the result of several things, -- things cultural, things emotional, and especially things secret. The Good Physician knows that all factors must be accounted for, for they change the perscription dramatically.

You may not be ready to admit what is causing you to be "foggy" in the head. A miracle may not be what you need to clear your head. You can't wish some things away...

What ever you do, don't shoot yourself up with all these drugs they're peddling. Telling people that their flighty personality is a pathological condition that needs medical treatment is the money making scam, not the 700 Club.

Right, that's my dilemma. Am I just wishing to be "all better"? Or are there areas in my life that I haven't addressed? I guess time will tell. I just don't want to go around saying, "Praise God, I'm healed!" if I'm not! :sorry: And I certainly don't want to NOT praise him if he has done something for me!

And I gave you good advice: if you want to know if you've been healed, go to the doctor who diagnosed you or to a doctor who's familiar with your diagnosis. Have them examine you and compare the results to the original diagnosis.

That's how to determine whether or not you've been healed.

My condition is not physical. It is mental.

Mental conditions are physical.

If you don't have any actual advice for me, please don't say anything at all.

I gave you advice. I don't understand what else you want.

I wanted words of encouragement, not discouragement.

You didn't say you wanted encouragement. You said you wanted to know if you've been healed.

I thought I was being encouraging telling you that God still does heal and to go and have it checked out.

Only you can know whether or not you were healed my sister. It may actually take time to see if you were healed. Look at your life now and in the past and compare and then, a few months later do the same. I praise God for you healing anyway.

My dear friend, easy, easy...now, calm down. this is not the time or the place to get into an argument...please, go easy on each other.:( Why bash each other like this???? We don't always know how our words will affect another...if it hurts someone, accept that and apologize. Don't be so tough-skinned. Pass around some love!

A child like faith is nothing that should be discouraged. We can't even get into God's kingdom without that childlike trust in God that pleases Him very much. Hang onto your confession of good faith. Indeed, God can heal you, and not all men are charlatans, but sincere and willing to be mocked for trusting in God's Word. Love believes all things, giving the benefit of the doubt to others and possibly being a bit naive instead of seeing only the bad. Those perfected in love can cast out fear of rejection, so if you want to be healed and hear a word of healing, go for it.
In the Bible, some healings were fast, but other scriptures said only that they would recover. Have you gone to the elders of your Church and asked to be prayed for as given in James? Be like the woman who kept bugging the judge until she got what she wanted. Keep asking and believing if healing is what you want.

Mr 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Jas 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

1Co 13:7 It [love] bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

I would wait and see. Your friends/relatives will probably be able to tell if you've gotten better in 6 months. Keep this whole thing under wraps until then. If they notice a real change in you that lasts, then God healed you.

When Jesus healed people, it didn't wear off after a few hours or a few weeks. They were healed perminantly. Many fake healers will do their thing, and after a small high where people think they are healed, they revert back to their old state.

heh. I wonder how many of these who replied know what ADD is.
If you still have a hard time focusing on things, that may be a sign that you have not been completely healed. I do not know if there is a specific test for it though.
My brothers are all ADD and I have some too (less) I don't have as hard of a time focusing but I do have a hard time reading fast. Try doing some tasks that you could not do before because of your attention deficit disorder.
