• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Reason I am posting here again is because sometimes people reply to my threads without knowing my OCD condition. Sometimes the things they tell me really confuse me even more. Other times, it's not as bad, but for this topic, I feel more comfortable asking you guys.

So I was doing a bit of research on the McCain vs Obama presidential debate and realized some conservative Christians are really against Obama due to his policies (abortion, homosexual marriages [correct me if I'm wrong]). I am not too familiar with the election, but I realized some people even mentioned the 'end times' and 'Revelation' in reference to the 2008 USA election.

After thinking of 'end times', I suddenly had flashback of my life and thought about the sin I committed and struggled with (lust). I thought about how the world was going to end and thought about my sin and how God will judge everyone. I decided to pray to God to confess all my sin, in fear.

Now, am I supposed to ask God to punish me (with disease or some punishment) for my sin to prove that I am sincere about my confession? Or do I just have to trust in God's Grace and that God has forgiven me? How do I know I am forgiven? What do I need to do?

What is CD? I am unclear on what it stands for ;)

You are forgiven Through Faith in Jesus Christ. It doesnt matter what you have done. Repent and put your faith in Him.

I have asked numerous times, "God punish me" It just doesnt work that way with God, like we sometimes want it to..

God is very patient with us and when we sin, but yes it is important that we repent. He can and will at times discipline us but that is only because He loves us.

It is important that we learn from our mistakes.

PS. I know you sent me a PM on a different subject, I am a little backed up with some things but I will get back to you my friend

Guitarintro, hello!

You know you are forgiven because the Bible says that you are. The moment you asked God to forgive you, He forgave you.

1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

I made the "all" bold, because "all" means all.

On judgment day God will not even remember your sins. Look at these Scriptures:

Psalm 103:12 "As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us."

Micah 7:19 "...You will cast all our iniquities into the depths of the sea."

Hebrews 10:17 "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more."

Be blessed, Guitarintro. The moment you asked God to forgive you, He forgave you. He removed your sins from you, He cast them into the sea, He does not remember your sins anymore.

This is the blessing we have because Jesus Christ took our sins, and all the requirements against us. They were nailed to His cross, Col. 2:14.
