How do I go to church if I don't know where it's at?

Astute questions are always good. Well, you could start by simply telling someone about Jesus. once you have led them to the Lord now you have two or more gathered in His Name. So then gather somerwhere and have Bible studies and keep having people come as the Lord adds to your church. Then rent out the local Middle School gym for a Sunday Evening service until you can drum up enough money to buy some land and put up a little pavillion. All the while the people who led to the Lord are leading others and then eventually you are ready for your first building project. Close your eyes and you wake up pastor of a Mega-church.

Church is where you find it, and I think that you, filled with the Holy Spirit believeing the Bible constitutes two people gathered together in the Name of Jesus. If that is all you can find lift your voice to heaven and praise the Lord. If you can find more, then praise God all the same.

I think you have to pick a church based upon a few things,

-doctrinal correctness :: (somewhat subjective but essentials are plain to see in the Bible) ie they teach the right things

-right priorities :: it usualy takes a while to see if all is well in terms of healthy relationships in the congregation and well balanced teaching that is being lived out. I find that bad churches usually tell you up front they are bad if you just pay attention. And sadly I feel we are in a major leadership crisis in the American church, pastors have become lovers of just about anything except preaching against sin. And that can only lead the nation the wrong way.

Really those two things. I won't stay at a church at a church that has anyone teaching who abuses the plain words of the Bible, nor will I trust my family to a place that is more dysfunctional than my own homelife.

Hope that helps. God meets you were you are at. And despite my clearly warnings, there are alot of good Christians still out there, so many of whom are not trying to be superstars, but are willing to love another human and care what the Bible says. Find a group of these, no matter how out of the way and you have found a place to grow in the Lord.
