I was saved 2010. My experience being born again was quite intense. I was pretty much radiating peace and joy. It was like had won a million dollars. Then I made a few mistakes and my joy was never again the same. It's soon been ten years, and I haven't felt that joy since. I have been told that that was an one time experience, and I will never feel like that again. But I don't believe that. I know inside that something in my life is missing and I know the joy can return, just don't know how or what's wrong with me.
Daily, continual peace, joy and righteousness,
Daily walking in the spirit instead of controlled by the flesh -
Every Day walking in the spirit, all the time,
is
supposed to be the 'normal' Christian Life, as Experienced by the Ekklesia in ACTS, and much of the New Testament,
and as experienced by the Ekklesia in countries where they are today severely persecuted and faced with death every day.
They believe, and they follow Jesus, as written, and do all the Father says to do,
and , as in Acts, they cound nothing as their own. (this is a key point).

As Jesus repeatedly warned the Apostles and disciples: if you start collecting money (or don't give it up (like the 'rich young man' who walked away SAD) ) .... then the love you have for Me (Jesus) Already IN YOUR HEARTS, will depart from you.....

Let me suggest ten reasons for having joy all the time, regardless of how painful your circumstances may be:
  1. You can rejoice always in God’s righteous character.
  2. You can rejoice always in God’s redeeming love.
  3. You can rejoice always in the Holy Spirit’s comforting ministry to you.
  4. You can rejoice always in the gifts and the blessings of the Holy Spirit.
  5. You can rejoice always in God’s promise to work all things together for good.
  6. You can rejoice always in the anticipation of your coming reward in heaven.
  7. You can rejoice always in the prayers God has answered in the past.
  8. You can rejoice always in the gift of God’s Word.
  9. You can rejoice always in God’s ever-present fellowship with you.
  10. You can rejoice always because God will be glorified even through your difficult circumstances.

What's the Bible say too ?

"The STRENGTH of OUR JOY, is OUR UNION WITH YESHUA"

See? Abiding in and with Yeshua daily IS CONTINUALLY JOYOUS --- HE IS our strength and our joy and our wisdom and our hope and our redeemer and our atonement !

I guess for a start thank God for what he has given you, salvation, and life. Some times joy comes as a result of our thinking, if we are thinking positively we will have greater joy. So focus on the positives of God's love for you, based upon His word. Spiritual joy may return one day, but there is no way to fabricate it, rather than start to be concerned, enjoy what God has already given.

A true heartfelt (broken)Repentance
usually in time
helps to bring the joy back.

A cleansing that all Christians need often.

Joy is a precious thing. I've come to greatly value God's peace and joy, which are both fruit of the Holy Spirit.

When I don't sense His joy, I get alone with Him and ask Him about it. Sometimes I press in until I get His joy back.

According to John 15:11, Jesus wants you to have His joy. I would encourage you to get alone with Him without any distractions. Ask Him about it and listen to what He shows you. Also, you can spend time meditating on scriptures having to do with His joy.

I pray that you will be filled with His joy!

Hopefully this won't come out wrong. I was RAISED Christian. I have been surrounded by people that at least seemed Christian. Many Baby Boomers, in the US, at least claimed to be Christian. To tell you the truth though, I NEVER heard about a "Born Again Christian", until Jimmy Carter claimed to be one. I probably heard that around 1978. However, I never really experienced any such thing until about 1992. I had unbelievable joy for a LONG time. I lost it maybe like 1997 or so. My life, in the 21st century, was just odd until it came to a screeching halt in 2020, because of "covid", since the economy came to a screeching halt to a degree. I got setup with a new church, and just got an urge to get that joy back. If I did anything wrong, I would like to really know. I also came to question if I have aphantasia. This brought up NEW questions, and your statements made me wonder.

Are you having literal two way conversations with God? I mean do you see and/or hear him?

I sometimes hear a response, but am inclined to think I merely came up with it myself, so I can't rely on that. As for seeing, that is too complicated for me to really fake so easily, but I only come up with such things, that I don't consciously create, if I am dreaming, etc....

In fact this morning, I had a question that I wanted an answer to, that I didn't much care about. I actually prayed four times on it and threw the coin up in the air. It rolled on the ground, and landed HEADS UP. I tried the EXACT same thing again. It landed heads up! I asked a contradictory question, all else the same, did it twice, and both times it was TAILS UP! Interesting, as randomly, the chances of that happening are like 1 in 16. But, outside of that, I have no evidence it was God. The answers were the safer choice and more in line with what I logically wanted to do, so I was happy.

BTW that was the first time I tried that coin toss. I couldn't make up my mind, and going out COULD have been dangerous. It is VERY cold here, with lots of snow, etc... So I figured why not. The bible actually has a passage with someone doing the same thing with a sheep skin, Judges 6:39-40 . Instead of heads/tails, it was wet/dry!

I am just curious. I guess most, or maybe all of us, won't know much about the whole thing until the end.

Oh and based on a survey I did, I think I probably do have phantasia, but what I was lead to believe is phantasia is actually hyperphantasia, and I don't have that. It is just hard to explain such things. 8(
