  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How did you tell your spouse?

I was wondering how did you tell your spouse that it was over? Were you already seperated and just filed? Did they get a knock at the door out of the blue and get served? I know that those are tuff decisions to make and I would like gain some understanding from your experiences. Thanks.SMM

I found out my ex filed after he called the police when I showed up with the kids for a regular visit. I thought we were still trying to reconcile and I had been bringing the kids over every day to the condo that we had lived in (owned by me and my parents). My garage remote didn't work. I was able to open it manually and found my key didn't work in the door. I called the phone and he didn't answer, but his truck was in the garage.

By this time I was getting a little angry. I tried the front door and knocked repeatedly. A police officer showed up and he showed me the paperwork that my ex handed him. What a nice way to find out, with my kids in the car. What a wimp he was. What I thought was strange was that he had already filed the paperwork before we spent the day together with the kids at Legoland.
