How did you get here?

I look back on when I first came to this forum. I actually came here when I first became a widow. I saw the widows/widowers forum section (it was a little more active at that time) and started posting there.
Then I posted in the singles section for awhile and got to know some of the regulars (alot of which have got married and/or left)
Then the mature singles section was born and I started posting here but for a long while it was relatively quiet. I'm glad for the recent activity, but not for the disagreements lately .
I have also checked out the age group forums like the over 40's and over 50's and even some of the parenting forums. The age group forums were a little disappointing to me because they mostly have threads that are games.
I have also participated in the past in the blessings threads that are kind of gamish in order to get "blessings" to build my avatar etc. Of course times have changed so I don't even think the blessings work the same way anymore, not really sure and don't really care.
I have also checked out the general theology forums, and specifically the eschatology section, because I have a great interest in that topic, but they are VERY studied on their opinions there and it was a bit overwhelming at times to read their novels of posts. . Still interested, just haven't checked it out in awhile.

I frequent another forum, which incidentally is decidedly not Christian. One of the more militant atheists over there suggested that Christians should have their own forum where they could troll each other-- his words-- and so on and so on. I got to thinking about it a bit, thought there must be Christian forums somewhere because there's forums for everything else under the sun, and a Google search led me here..

That militant atheist isn't over there anymore-- he got banned for something or other-- but I still go there quite a bit. I have my blog over thataway, for one thing, and a bit of debate never hurt anybody. I hold my ground alright there, same as here.

Once here, I did the standard lurking before posting so I could see how things work here, and-- here we are.

Wait! So you are a christian and you go to a non-christian forum? (gasp!)
Just kidding, sorry I can't help myself sometimes. What is your blog about? I noticed that you mentioned that you also were in the age group forums that like to play games? I don't do games that much. What do they discuss at that non-christian forum? and don't say non-christian things. I mean like what kind of topics.

Is it me or is it eerily quiet here today? Of course it is Friday and Fridays are kind of like that especially given that its a holiday weekend so...

OK, real quick: My blog is non-specific, just whatever I want to put in at that moment. It's been a while since I did much with it, but if you really want to see it you can find it through my profile here.

Myopera Debates and Discussions is sort of a catch-all for stuff that doesn't fit elsewhere, and we do discuss politics and religion amongst other things. I have two recent threads there, both dying now after a short run. One is on life on other planets, and the other is titled "Nazi raccoons". Yes, that's right, nazi raccoons. It's a long story, quickly told, and when I found it I had to post about it. I think it ran to 85 replies before finally dropping to the bottom.

The first forum I ever found was for young widows and widowers...and it helped me survive the death of my husband. Over time, I joined a couple others ... but as I reached out to help people, I also lost some of my anonymity so I couldn't post as openly as I used to. I also was getting tired of having to tiptoe when I talked about my faith...so I went looking for somewhere I didn't have to explain my beliefs. I found this forum...and started out in the widows forum, but they don't talk the hard issues of life and I need to use my brain. I've looked at other places on CF when there was no activity, but find most of the discussions to be frivilous fluff...fine for those that want it, but not for me.

I don't mind disagreements but I wish people would quit making personal attacks...when attacked, it is normal to lash back in self-defense...and then it is a big mess that lacks a lot of logic. There are ways to disagree without putting someone else down...and we also need to quit with the knee jerk reactions when we feel attacked. In the big picture, most of us will never meet in real life...and it doesn't matter who doesn't like us or who doesn't agree with us. Just don't read...it is easy.

I don't remmember for sure how I find this site.
I've posted on message boards for ages, so I might have seen a link to this message board from one of the other ones I was on in the past. The CF has become my main place to post fellowship and express my opinions.
