I'm limited to 10 options... sigh... but you can pick as many as apply!! If you don't see your particular option there, tell us about in in the post!!

If this is your second birth or more- can you share how did your birth views and plans changed/or not over time?

My first birth,
536619777
, we opted for an OB at the hospital, natural birth using Lamaze.

My second,
536619777
,we opted for a birthcenter birth with a midwife, still using Lamaze, plus a whirlpool water labor. (Water labor is really a big relief when active labor gets nasty, jets are a nice feature, but I only had them this time)

My third,
538537173
, we opted for a homebirth, using using a modified Bradley technique, plus water labor in our tub. (We realized after birth 2 that the Lamaze was making my arms tingle from the hyperventilation, and making my hubby woozy, so we changed that, and liked the change a lot.)

My fourth,
536619777
, fifth,
536619777
and sixth,
538537173
, we opted for homebirth, Bradley, plus a birth tub for the labor and birth. (Who wants to get up and move around when pushing hits? Not me, I decided to stay in the tub, and it was a blessing, and really easy clean up too! Oh and I also had a doula for the last two.)

My seventh,
stork-suprise.gif
, will probably be the same as the last three... God willing.

So... what about you?? :holy:

With my first and second I was in a normal hospital delivery unit, I was induced both times, used pethidine because I was induced. Just midwives present.
Number 3 I was in a birthcentre which was attatched to the hospial again with only midwives and dh, no painkillers.

With my first I had to be induced due to low amniotic fluid. So of course I was in a hospital, but that is what I had planned anyways. I used a midwife to help me deliver. Thank goodness I was at a hospital because my cervix tore. That was very scary.

I'm pregnant now, and I plan to doing it the same way. I would be scared to death to ever deliver anywhere but a hospital since my cervix tore the first time.

Yeah, complications always make the blood pressure jump bit.

I needed a lot of stitches after my first because the episiotomy became a 4th degree tear. With the homebirths I never tore, but I had a hemorrhaged a bit after a couple of the births (uterine atony- tired uterus), but nothing ever came up that the midwife couldn't handle with her equipment and experience so I didn't end up having to transport to the hospital.

Still makes you thankful for skilled caregivers. :amen:

I'll be at the hosptial (unless I don't get there)- I don't use a 'technique'...I just do my own thing- it's Bradleyesque- I suppose (but I am not an avid fan of a husband as a 'coach'--and my husband just is there if I need a hand to hold, and to help me feel loved. Mostly I want no one to touch me, and everyone to be quiet :) )

I have had the last 5 out of 6 without any pain meds. My first two births were nightmarish- but I was young and giving the babies up for adoption, so I didn't do any research. The next was at a hospital with a midwife (and a doctor with an attitude who grumpily came in to manually remove my placenta, after only 15 minutes ) The next was at home- it was lovely and so peaceful. The next I had a t the hospital becuase I was bleeding heavily- which is where I met my OB- who let me labor and really worked with me in a super respectful way. The next I had at the hospital with the same OB- and again was lovely (but a very, very hard labor--I think there might have been some positioning issues). And this one is planned to be a hospital birth with him in attendance, too. ANd I'll give birth wherever I feel like it at the time, providing there are no complications.

Our first is due in October! He's a BOY!

We'll be having him in a birthing center (attached to a hospital). I have a midwife who is GREAT. Prior to the pratcice she's now at she only did home births and out of all the years she's been pratcing she's only done 1 episomity! :yay:

DH and I are doing bradley method, and I love the idea of Husband coached childbirth. I'm happy he's able to be involved! :)

I have had OB hospital births, a midwife hospital birth, and a midwife home water birth.

I've had one epidural (my first baby), and all natural births for the rest, even though #6 was a full pitocin induction (I HATE pitocin!!!)

I've always used Bradley (or my own version of Bradley) and I Loved it.

My first child was born when I was 19. Our hospital has a nice birthing center so I didn't have to be moved around. I had a mean Phillipieno female doctor with hands the size of a basketball! BTW she was ran out of town not long after I had my son (after she told a 40 yr old woman based on her age alone she needed to just get an abortion)- anyhow....
my son was induced at 36 wks (and when I was preg with my daughter my charts were looked at and I was told that there was NO reason for the induction at that time-think of the health risks to a baby that little just cause she wanted me to have him then I guess). I did it with no lamaze, no painkillers, just me and my 20 yr old husband who was as scared as I was- lol

22 mths later I had my daughter at 38 wks (was induced cause my obgyn was going out of state on vacation), no pain killers and just my husband with me that time too, no lamaze.

I can remember my hubby telling me to breath and I yelled at him that I didn't WANT to breath! lol that's what I get for no lamaze

Well as I am in Australia, we don't have the options that you have. Birthing centers, public hospital, or private hospital. Not sure that we have midwives, assisted homebirths are not allowed, (or if they are, this is only new), only if you go into labour, and the ambulance get there in time. Doulas? or what ever, I've never heard of.
For me I choose private hospital, that way I can stay however long I want.
Birth center you only have 24 hours, public hospital only 3 days.
Not sure about all the birthing methods that everyone mentions, I just do what is natural and comfortable for me. I breath however I feel I need to, to get through the pain. I also birth on my knees. I haven't had pain medication for the last 6 of the 7 births, and I can't stand people touching me while in labour. I am so inwardly focus on getting the baby born, that everything else is just a distraction. My husband knows to just let me "do my stuff".
