As noted, the term "Christian" was first applied to the early followers of Jesus at Antioch, in Greek "christianos" means "Messiah-follower", though it's also possible that it was originally meant as a derogatory term, as the word "christos" is rooted in "chrism" oil, thus "oily ones" could have been the intended meaning as all these people were talking about "Jesus the oily one" in the Greek mind.

The word Christianity comes to English ultimately from Latin Christianitas, meaning "the state of being a Christian"; effectively Christianity means something like "the way of being [a] Christian".

I decided to see what the Greek translation for "Christianity" was, and it is Χριστιανισμός (Christianismos), from which I gather means, "the condition of being Christian".

Christian literally means "of Christ" or "Christ's one" (see Acts 11:26). Christ means "anointed of God" ---thus our Lord is Jesus (savior), the Christ of God. Read your Bible daily and you will learn what God says, and be blessed. Look up always!
