How common is this sort of thing in charismatic churches?

For those who say you cannot see demons, what do you suppose those who have seen ghostss or "aliens" or "ufo's" actually saw
Are you also familiar with the Holy Spirit gift of discernment of spirits? This gift can manefest in mature believers by being able to physically see both angels and demons (falen angels) You would then "see" for instance a coil of rope around the head of somebody suffering migraine and could relieve them simply by uncoiling the rope.

Migraines are demonic? (I mean I've said "I have a wicked migraine" before, but...)

Well, I think there was only one guy who said that we couldn't see demons...I just said that they didn't REALLY walk around on two legs. Legs are flesh. If demons are Spirits, why would they have legs, especially if they're disembodied, as so many of us believe them to be? Legs are for beings who are tied by gravity.
We see symbols. The Spirit shows us symbols of how things are, and Satan tries to show us how he would LIKE us to believe things are. If the Spirit is with us, we know his voice.
Apparently, you agree with me. But to answer your question about ufos, ghosts, and the like: Airplanes. Occasionally, satellites. Bargelights. Leaves hanging at the end of spiderwebs. Imaginations. And, at times, demonic deception. I have a friend who will swear to you that he's seen a spacecraft hovering over his house. THE MAN LIVES WITHIN A QUARTER MILE OF AN AIRPORT! These guys WANT to believe that little green men are out to abduct them, and they use every little light in the sky as a means to prove it, along with that B-budget "Alien Autopsy" special. These guys WANT to believe in spooks and hoodoos, so every little snap, crack, illumination, or otherwise funny event that occurs is evidence of such things. Course, I see similar things among my brothers and sisters, when they want to prove God.
Insidently, my whole question is that if little green men have the means to travel light years from their planet to ours, why are they crashing all the time? Crashing is something creatures will do when are barely able to fly from Earth to Mars. To get to Earth from Alpha Centari, you have to have your ducks in a row. And for GOD'S SAKE why do they have to stick me with needles to find out what I'm made of? Needles are primitive by our own means. To travel light years, you have to get over using metal.
At any rate, as I've said before, the Spirit shows us the Spiritual realm. This is biblical. We must realize, however, the only solution we can come to from reading ALL of the scriptures is that what we do see is parablized for our benefit. We DO NOT see face to face. We will see face to face when we are with him. (1 Corinthians 13:12)

Think about it...eh...?!

When I was a child, I had seizures and bit people, now I realize that this was probably demonic related, but at the time I was 2 years old. I was treated with medicine at the time, and it seemed to work, but if it was demonic, there was problably still a demon present, even though i was on medicine to stop biting and seizures. I am now saved by God's grace, and cannot be possessed due to the greatness of the name of Jesus Christ which I now belong to. I am set free, but I did want to share what God did for me. I do believe with everything inside of me that my parents should have trying casting out demons in some form, but it's over now, and I am free! Praise Jesus!

Also, when a person gives their life to the Lord, they bring with them some of the baggage that they've carried for a very long time. A person can give their heart to Jesus but the demons the person was living with before don't necessarily leave until they are forced out.

There was a lady in my church who was Buddist and she came to know the Lord through some wonderful circumstances. For the first several weeks after her conversion, demons would manifest through her during the worship services. As they would manifest she would be taken to another room so as not to disturb the rest of the congregation and demons were cast out. There were many. And while it does not always have to take that long, it was several months before she was totally free from them.

Those of us who deal with this type of thing on a regular basis know quite well how clever and insidious they are. However, we also know who we are and Who we serve and we know that we have more authority than they and we cast them out. Simple!

You state that demons can be seen but you then say that you have never seen one. If a person truly repents and gives their life to Jesus Christ it is IMPOSSIBLE for them to have demons. When a person receives the the gift os salvation the Holy Spirit indwells in that that person. So how can demons be present.

I don't quite understand the Buddist lady. Did the demons manifest through her? If she truly gave her life to Jesus then she cannot be demonized (if by "demonized" you mean being endwelled by evil spirits). She may still oppressed by spirits but she has assurance that through salvation she cannot be possessed.

It is indeed unfortunate that more Christians do not know about demons and their work.

May I suggest that it is very important that you declare your forgiveness of your parents.

"Forgive us our trepasses as we forgive those that trepass against us." Lord's prayer.

I agree with you...demons have no physicality, whether they're a "disembodied entity" as we theorize them to be or not. The spiritual realm is not to be seen or understood by our minds, which interpret electromagnetic radiation. But we CAN see symbols that the spirit shows us. The new testiment says that no man has seen God at any time, yet the prophet Isaih says that he saw the Lord, high and lifted up. God the father cannot be beheld, but a symbol of God can be. The same goes for demonic entities. Obviously somebody saw Satan in the story of Job (unless somebody wants to argue that Job is merely a tale...). And, well, John saw frogs. So to say that a person "sees" a demon is not necessarily Biblically inaccurate, it's just technically incomplete. God shows us images to help us understand what we cannot understand. Blessings

This is an interesting perspective. I agree that we canot "see" spirits with our physical eyes but God gives us spiritual discernment. With this discernment we "see" spritual beings. I have been in situations in which I sensed a spirit but I never saw it with my eyes.

You must be basing this observation on your "experiences", it is generally not a good idea to let a lack of actual experiences help you interpret God's Word. Also, I'm sure you will, from this point on, hear of other's experiences with their angels...

As a matter of fact, In the U.S.A., in the Far West, there are Indian tribes who make "Katchina dolls" and did you know these dolls are painted with the caricatures of the demons they see and worship in dance, at ceremonies that are presided over by their Shamans (witchdoctors)? How else can they make the Shamans appear powerful and enable the Shaman to rule with fear? Trust me, Demons can be seen and they have tangible substance. How else can they put sickness or a curse on someone? or even possess an unsaved one?

I'm really not trying to offend you or anybody else, but it seems very plain that you are still carnal (ruled by body or mind, or the state of being materialistic). If you endeavor to spend lots of time in the Bible and God, you will change your mind...

It's called "renewing" your mind to the word of God...

ROM 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

EPH 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

COL 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Some points:

1) Why do we have to see angles for them to minister to us?

2) I "must" be basing my observation on my personal "experience"? Not true. I read God's Word and it is obvious that demons are spiritual beings that have no physical bodies.

3) If demons have "tangible substance" it would be impossible for them to possess anybody. How would the demon's physical body enter a person? It is because they have no body that they can possess a non-believer. Spiritual beings are not subject to the physical laws of our world.

4) We should trust you and believe that demons have bodies? Just because you say so?

4) You don't want to offend anyone but then you resort to a personal attack. I am carnal? You came to this conclusion based on one post? If you disagree with my point of view. That is fine. They share your point of view and the reasons for believing this view.

5) The belief that demons have physical bodies is medieval superstition and not a Biblical point of view.
