How can you be happy

Being happy in life does not mean that you need to have earthly material, i.e. wealth. Even if you compare the rich and the poor, the poor enjoy more in their lives. The poor man has no worries because he has nothing to worry about. But the rich have no rest because they always think about their property.

"I am telling you the truth, store your wealth in heaven, where thieves nor moth cannot destroy it and you shall worry no more." (Matthew 6, Luke 12)

"Watch out you rich people! Cry for the miseries that will come on you. Your wealth is rotten and moth eaten. It's rust is a witness against you and will cut your flesh like fire." (James 5)

"And let the poor be happy because he is being lifted up. Tell the rich they will be made low." (James 1)

Am only happy in the Lord. Whatever the life situation is, as long as I have God's grace, am happy. Thats it, theres nothing else...

So for me... Happy = Lord.

Once heard someone say the word happy comes from the word happenstance.
you know like what happens to you as you go along. Don't know if that is exact, but can understand how it applies. Just because of things that happen in our lives, it should not effect our out-look. Deep joy and comfort mean so much more to me than just being happy for a moment.
Always love the scriptures from James. Short book but so full of true riches.

I don't know that that's accurate. I've had moments where I've had joy and been satisfied in my soul, but wasn't happy. I was in the throes of despair even. And yet...

It's hard for me to explain, and a bit personal, so yeah.

You can be happy in the Lord if you so choose. Others will not be able to keep you happy.
Money will make you comfortable, true joy will bring happiness.

I think that's a rather broad brush with which you paint the state of the poor.

I don't think a poor mother enjoys more when she can't feed herself or he child. I don't think they are happier when living in a cardboard box in an alley, compared to those who live in a house or apartment.
