• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi;
For a long time I've had trouble fighting urges about men, dirty thoughts and more physical things, and i just don't know what exactly I'm meant to do. I don't want to not inherit the kingdom of heaven, i have been a practicing Christian all my life and need to know how i;m meant to stay strong in the face of such a strong biological thing. Able to supply addy if anyone thinks they'd be able help more one on one.

if it was me i would stop trying and focus on Christ alone. i would spend much time in His Real Presence (Catholic Church) No one can help you like Jesus, obviousy

i always liked the NIKE thing: just do it.. sometimes its as simple (and as difficult) as that..

sin separates one from Christ.. i refuse to sin because it separates me from the only Way to Heaven. Jesus said that there are few who find the narrow way to Heaven.. and that even those who do "mighty deeds" in his name will not necessarily make it.

This is enough to sober anyone up... :o

and my experiences tell me that Jesus was not (of course!!) exaggerating... but then you'd have to walk a mile in my shoes to what i am talking about here.. suffice it to say that i have seen and been through a lot of... *&#%^%$. i sometimes wonder if anyone in my world is a true Christian

Seek older and wiser Christians in your area to assist you on this, who have experience with the issue (not personal experience, mind you). People on the internet can only help so much. Mentors, accountability partners, a strong support of close friends will be vital in you getting the assistance you desire to bring your thoughts under Christ's control.

This is an easy question to answer: You can't.
There is absolutely nothing you can do. The urges will never go away.

But that's the nature of sin, it exists to tempt us into straying from the Word of God. As long as Satan exists, temptation will remain. All you can do is live strong in the presence of God and Jesus. Living by His Word will keep you from acting on those urges and temptations.

Even "recovering alcoholics" still feel tempted to drink even after twenty and forty years of sobriety.

<staff edit>. With God nothing is impossible and temptation is only a small part of life, not all of it by God's grace. We're not tempted every day.

Nicky, I would recommend you seek a better church. <staff edit>. In God there is not only Jesus but also the Father and the Holy Spirit. You must get to know Jesus' invisible Father, He is kind and very very very very very very very very very patient with all of us. And you don't have to fight all the time, the much more vital thing is to learn to trust Jesus and to seek Him in all things.

And you need people to speak with about this problem. You need to get it into the open. God will bring help and healing, trust me!

Homosexuality is not a sin in all its forms. You have to think about it, your hearth, what is the case with you. Is it something you do because you want to rebel against the God, or not. Making a list of what is sin (in all possible cases and with every person in the world) is not a good solution. Take into account from which sources the advice is coming. There are also liberal churches and Christians who believe in Jesus just in the similar way...
