How Can I make God the Center of my Life?

I keep falling and failing and examined my life and realized God is not the number one priority or the one guiding my life right now. I prayed and got a word from Him of " seek me and make me your focus and all will be made right."

Now I am wondering where to start.

You sound like me to be honest. It seems hard, but just read the bible, as a start. Believe what it says is the true word of god and no other substitute is out there. Go to church that you feel good with and do things in your community, and just pray from the heart. These are all things i've done and to be honest it's starting to help me make god my life as well. I hope this helps and I'll make sure to pray for you so know you have people on here that are willing to help you my man.

find a preacher(church) who teaches the truth
that preacher must be sent from God
you have to hear the truth
believe the truth when you hear it.
read God word to make sure that preacher is sent from God and that you are hearing the truth

Being a Christian usually invites more problems rather than less, the road is narrow my brother. If God wants you to focus on him, then focus on the Word. If you're looking for God, just open yoour eyes, his revelations are everywhere. Keep a soft heart and I'd start by reading the book of John. Don't get bogged down in reading the Bible in order, All of it is good for learning. I used to just open it up to a random place and let the Lord call out a scripture to me. Sometimes it was relevant that very second, but usually no longer than a day would go by where I would clearly see the purpose for that verse.

Whenever I am made to realize I have 'drifted' in some area, I pray with a sincere heart. "Lord, save me from myself." Our Father is a prayer hearing, prayer answering God and He has promised to keep you when you are humbled and He WILL lift you up!

Man, I can totally identify with you! My opinion is to

#1 Expect day by day progress, don't look into the week too far
#2 Pray a bunch more!!
#3 When you do pray, unload on God, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7)
#4 Don't try to do things you really really never want to do anyway. God wants you to move in the Spirit, not the letter of the law.
#5 When you feel thankful, go ahead and thank Him

My suggestion is to Pray with out ceasing, pray at all times in good season and in bad. Your one on one time with GOD is of utmost importance, that is where I recommend that you start. As well as the reading of scripture, pray to understand what is written, pray that GOD shows you what you need to know. Just Pray! Pray! Pray! .......

Start with grace and learning to view yourself as God views you, and not how you view yourself.

Your comments made it clear to me that you suffer from legalism...feeling you are failing yourself, life and God by not living a perfect life, or a better and less sinful life than you currently do.

Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour? If YES, then realise that God now views you as JUSTIFIED, which means "JUST AS IF YOU HAD NEVER SINNED", and God is already well pleased in you because you accepted Jesus.

God doesn't favour you more if you sin less....that's Satan's mind tricks being played on you.

God already completely and perfectly loves and accepts because you trust in Jesus, not because you live a "good or sinless life".

So you should start here............ viewing yourself as God views you.. "IN CHRIST", a perfect child of God, no matter what you do, or fail to do, God sees your sins no more and has thrown them into the depths of the sea!
