Technically, if your name is still on the books then you are still a member of the SDA church are you not? If that is true then there should be no restriction for contributing here.

My name is still on the SDA membership books, even though I resigned last year. Technically I still hold SDA membership. But I don't believe I'm allowed to contribute openly here since I did not select the SDA icon when I signed up.

In general you can post as long as it is fellowship and not teaching. If you want to discuss theology then I would suggest making a thread in Denominational Specific Theology.

That is a debate forum for discussion of theology in specific denominations. Then you can just link to it in the main Adventist forum or in a conversation that you might like to participate in but would be prevented by the rules from doing so. Since it is in the theology section which is open to all those bearing one of the Christian icons you could debate there freely.

I had much the same question when I started here. I did not want to select the SDA icon choice because I don't agree with many things our church says. If there was a progressive SDA icon I would have chosen that but I never want to be identified with traditional or historic SDAism. So I did not select a denomination. Though I am still a member of the SDA church and regularly attend.

Now maybe I have been in violation in posting to the SDA threads. I don't think so, I think it is simply a weakness in the way they have the system set up here. I would say feel free to post in any SDA section. But if you don't agree with traditional SDAism then just kindly question them don't debate them in their own little area. Many of the traditionalists have come out in the general SDA thread which is good because then you can feel free to debate with them.

You haven't broken the rules if you still consider yourself a Seventh-day Adventist (even a progressive one ). You are allowed to debate in the main SDA forum. We just thought it would be a good idea to have a place where everyone is welcome to debate Adventist beliefs and not be so restricted in what they can say (whether actual restrictions or perceived restrictions). The Denomination-specific Theology forum is already there, so we may as well use it. I think it would alleviate some of the tensions that we have had lately.
