  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How can God back and deal with the Jews?

The part of the plan that was derailed was the Jews choosing to be Godly, good examples and evangelistic.
You seem to be conflating God's command and God's eternal plan. (Or in Reformed terminology, God's revealed will and God's hidden will (by the way, the Reformed know this is only a way to talk about God's will --not exactly accurate or precise).

This is incorrect, which explains why you didn't accept my original post—and it is also a signal for me to not continue the discussion here, because it is off topic.

Reply to #8 no not legalism, a covenant requires a mediator or show me a covenant without a mediator?
Jesus Christ is that mediator -God himself. We complicate this beyond what is necessary.

Look at it from God's point of view. The things of this earth, (i.e. "our way of looking at things") are only small pictures of the eternal.

I am sorry for coming across that way. It is not really off-topic, though it may seem to be a side issue. It deals with part of your reasoning, which if faulty makes the main point suspect (as you implied with your statement that what I said explains why I didn't accept your original post.)

Mainly, I only want people to understand that our point of view makes us never able to see clearly. Our words tangle our minds. Our understanding of God's words tangles our minds.

I suspect he loves the Jews just like he loves the Christians.
The Jewish individuals that are saved, ARE Christians. There is no difference.

There has only ever been one Gospel.

How can anyone say that God is not dealing with Israel? since it is impossible for a nation to be formed unless that be of God?

Who can doubt that God is bringing the Jews back to their ancient homeland before our very eyes as He said He would?

Who told folks that God cannot deal with any nation or people or person apart from through a mutually agreed mediator...He deals with people through Jesus Christ for sure...whether they like it or not.

Have you not read that Israel is the enemy of the gospel for our sake but BELOVED by God for the sake of the fathers.

God says they are beloved.

This verse seems to have a meaning which isn't clear on its face. We can see clearly that there are still both males and females and differences between them, so the verse cannot mean what it means on its face. Therefore there are still Jews and Gentiles, and differences between them.

The verse also says, "you are all one in Christ Jesus," so does the verse pertain only to believers, and that amongst believers no differences exist between believers of Jewish origin and believers of Gentile origin? If so, that still leaves the question of the disposition of those Jews who continue to reject Christ, right?

I do not understand this comment. Can you clarify this for me?

Are you saying that the people who killed their messiah choose to be Godly and are working today to lead people to Christ by faith?????

God doesn't go back to deal with them. God made a covenant through Abraham and God does not rescind that covenant. Jesus is the fulfillment of that covenant.

There are many Christians who think that God is no longer covenantally committed to Israel and that Christians have replaced Israel as God's covenant people. This is known as replacement theology. But, is this the case?

"For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery, lest you be wise in your own estimation, that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fulness of the Gentiles has come in; 26 and thus all Israel will be saved; just as it is written,“The Deliverer will come from Zion. He will remove ungodliness from Jacob.” 27 “And this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins.” 28 From the standpoint of the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God’s choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers; 29 for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable," (Rom. 11:25-29).

It is apparent from the above Scripture that God is not finished with Israel. Paul tells us that a partial hardening has happened to Israel. This is so the Gentiles can be included in the covenantal faithfulness of God in his redemptive work. This was prophesied in Genesis 12:3 and reiterated in Galatians 3:8. In those two verses, God says that in Abraham all the nations will be blessed. Paul quotes Gen. 12:3 in Galatians and calls it the gospel.

How can God go back and deal with the Jews?
I suppose the Old Covenant could be revived. The doing of it might require a revision or two to Sacred Scripture though.

"This is my blood. The blood of the new and eternal covenant. Do this in memory of... actually, wait a minute. Nah. When I say 'eternal', I don't actually mean, like, ETERNAL. Yanno? I mean, this is a totally legit covenant and stuff but, like, when I come back as Space Jesus and rapture everybody and stuff, this new and eternal covenant that I'm about to make will actually be the temporary covenant. Because after that, we're be back to the old covenant or whatever.

"No, srsly, there will be a third temple and valid animal sacrifices will be offered. NB4 the second temple hasn't been destroyed yet, I know. I totally know. Just go with me here, mmmkay?

"So yeah, the third temple will be totally accepted by God because there will be this one guy, it's a weird story, just trust me, there'll be this one guy who goes in there and does some really scandalous stuff to defile this third temple which shouldn't even exist in the first place because the old covenant it represents has been fulfilled by Me and I'm supposed to set up a new and eternal covenant. Right? But, like, this new covenant that I'm setting up ain't gonna be very eternal, y'all. And like I say, after that we go back to the old covenant, lulz. Wacky times, idk.

"Anyway, so when I say 'eternal', I don't actually mean ETERNAL eternal, fam. It's not literal. But when John over there writes the Apocalypse, it will be TOTALLY literal when he talks about a thousand year reign. 365,000 days; no more, no less. Anybody who says otherwise is a papist or something. Don't worry, you'll find out about the papists later. Pete, you'll LOVE this, I promise!

"But anyway, whatever, this is my blood. The blood of the new and eternal..."

But yeah, I guess it's possible to go back to the Old Covenant though. Maybe.
