The truth will set you free TLK.....but you can't believe that nor not believe that, being agnostic.

I do believe that -- I just don't believe you have it.

Sorry if truth derailed your attempt to sound profound...

Ahhh...the old "put in quotes as an insult" gambit...TOS violation there. And...IF there was a worldwide flood ( which there is no geologic evidence of) God could have left the garden untouched!

Then it appears your bible lies. Considering there is no evidence that a dead guy can rise on day 3....did it also lie there? I would think you might be inclined to say...YES.

Then you really don't sound like an agnostic.

Because I don't believe you have the truth?

Do you even know what an agnostic is?

Its a matter of understanding the literary genres...something my OT professor at Liberty University talked about often. (BS in Biblical Studies, 2012)

If you don't mind my asking, RedPonyDriver, what are you planning to do with your degree in biblical studies? Go into ministry, graduate work in biblical studies?

I'm thinking of either LMFT or teaching. Right now I'm sort of retired from an engineering career. I'm dealing with some physical issues stemming from taking care of my mother and I'm in the process of finding the extent of the damage and how to fix it if possible.

Crud...my reply didn't post. Teaching would be in a K-12 Christian school. Right now I'm taking a break from everything so I can get my physical issues sorted out. The LMFT is something I need to think and pray about.

There is a video on the origin of evolution you need to watch. That 'theory' is older than Christianity
and many other religions. And it has nothing to do with science.
How does that nonsense show non-scientific roots to evolution. It seems that the maker of the video is making the same mistake that many Christians do when the reinterpret the Bible to match science. Reinterpreting works so that they support you arguments is always dishonest.

Tell me again.....just how tall was the candle when it was first lit?

We aren't measuring the age of candles.

If you want to discuss rocks, we can look at rocks from known historic lava flows.

"Two extensive studies done more than 25 years ago involved analyzing the isotopic composition of argon in such flows to determine if the source of the argon was atmospheric, as must be assumed in K-Ar dating (Dalrymple 1969, 26 flows; Krummenacher 1970, 19 flows). Both studies detected, in a few of the flows, deviations from atmospheric isotopic composition, most often in the form of excess 40Ar. The majority of flows, however, had no detectable excess 40Ar and thus gave correct ages as expected. Of the handful of flows that did contain excess 40Ar, only a few did so in significant amounts. The 122 BCE flow from Mt Etna, for example, gave an erroneous age of 0.25 0.08 Ma. Note, however, that even an error of 0.25 Ma would be insignificant in a 20 Ma flow with equivalent potassium content."

At worst, new rocks date to 0.25 million years old. This is just 0.25% error for a 100 million year old date.

Calling a person a pagan is not a valid argument against scientific evidence.

Yes, but lacking a valid argument against scientific evidence, one must make do...

Evolution dates back into pre-Socratic philosophy. Also, it is found in teh Christian mystical tradition, specifically in the writings of Dionysius, Eckhart, and Boehme. In the two latter, creation is God's own self-evolution from unconsciousness into consciousness and personality.
