OBOB started a discussion on wanting a forum in the denominational area where the unsaved can come and post.

If that is the trend that Erwin is moving in (and it seems it is) I asked that we have one also .

I asked if we could have the "Ask the Calvinist "opened and allow more discussion/debate.

Calvinists are folks that love to talk doctrine so I figured it might be cool.

How do you all feel? Speak now or forever hold your peace.

My only hesitation is if it turns into something akin to GA. Could we observe how it goes in OBOB first?

BTW, what is required to be considered a Semper member? I'm not sure if my vote counts.

Do you post here ? Then you are a member.

The congregational rules are not as loose as GA.

The topic would always be doctrinal . That is something that can not be discussed in GA .
So it would be a forum to discuss Calvinism with unbelievers ( something we can not do within forum rules at this time )

I believe it would be more edifying if we reserved semper strictly for discussions between people who are Reformed. There is certainly no lack of space for those who dislike god's sovereignty to rail against His truth on other forums. Cruising the forums will demonstrate that. So let semper be reserved for serious discussions without the interference of those who want to parade their vain reasonings against the truth.

I agree with Rolf, reserve semper, and just one sub-forum for the ranting of those who believe their God.

The wall will stay up in all the other parts of Semper.

It would just be one sub forum

I voted yes because you wrote that there will be just one sub forum open for those people...... otherwise I would have voted no - because I think Rolf is correct when stating

I voted yes because I think it's a great idea to have a place where we can have some give and take with non-Reformed about Calvinism outside of GT.

Will non-Christians be allowed to post in this one sub-forum?

I assume that because it is open anyone will be able to post there .

So it would just add one layer to Semper that is not there now.

I think the important part of working with unbelievers is pressing the gospel message so that they can be exposed to it in love .

But i am sure they also have some misconceptions on Calvinism that will be addressed.

The greatest missionaries of all times were Calvinists..

I am not in general favor of each denomination having its own outreach,I prefer us all in one voice , but if that is the future of CF then as the men before us we too need to bring them the gospel.

If the Semper Reformanda is largely left closed, and only a sub forum added wherein non-reformed can weigh in, I think it would be fine; but it would be good if that open aspect of semper were carefully distinuished from the main semper forum so we would have safeguards against intrusions into the forum reserved for the reformed.

It will work the it does on the other forums. If there is no Christian Icon they will not have access to posting rights.

This one forum will not have the icon requirement programed into it, so they will be able to post as they can in GA .

Unless they change their religion choice of icon to "Christian" they will not have the ability to post in here, just as they can not post in GT or Semper now
