  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

with fibromyalgia & problems from a car accident, living in a 2 story house has become increasingly difficult

we bought a ranch a couple yrs ago but as soon as we closed on it, husband/child didn't want to live there so we turned around & sold it (even though I was happy with it)

husband is refusing to look for another ranch because we lost $6,000 on that transaction

what can I do?
can't get stair lift as husband is woodworker & carries big stuff up/down stairs

What were the reasons they didn't want to live in a house immediately after buying it? That doesn't make much sense and more information is needed. It seems odd that you would buy a house, they just.... wouldn't want to live in it ?? ... and now are using the loss of equity from having to sell that house as a reason for not wanting to buy a better suited house now.

Did your husband just not want to move previously? Why was he willing to buy a house then, but then refuse to live there? What are his reasons for not wanting to buy another house now, besides that $6k? Are there other reasons? Does he know how much this impacts your health? Is it out of character for him not to care about that?

older & smaller home than we have now & they realized they didn't want to move

it's not like buying a sweater & return to store

we went from getting ready to paint to they just changed their minds & child decided didn't want to change school
I mean... that's exactly right, it's not like buying a sweater and returning it to the store. Did they not look at the house, the amount of room available, the age, the school district, before entering into a multi-thousand dollar contract to buy a house? It just seems very odd to go to closing just to decide, oh, I don't really want to move after all. There are so many opportunities to change your mind before sitting at the closing table and signing those documents.

Is it out of character for your husband to not care about your health and hygiene or housing needs?

Your only options are to convince him of your needs and get a solid decision to move; move on your own; get a shower installed on the lower level for you to use; or continue on as you have been.

If a 2 story house is impacting your health negatively, I think it's pretty selfish of him to insist that ya'll are never going to move and you just have to deal with it because moving is stressful to him. You need to tell him if you haven't already that the layout of the house is hurting your health and mobility. Maybe have him listen to your doctor about what would be better for your health. Does he know you are losing balance and are afraid to fall down stairs? If you can, maybe you can remodel the existing house; add on a downstairs master and bath, laundry, and a back staircase with a stair lift?
