  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My wife and I sometimes watch the popular show House M.D. on Fox. Last week a certain quote caught my attention.

Dr. Wilson: Your real fear is me having a good relationship.
House: Yes, it keeps me up at night. That and the Loch Ness Monster, global warming, evolution, other fictional concepts.
Any thoughts? I thought it interesting that the main character in the show that so many who watch like would make such a comment. Or maybe it was just made in fun to mock those that would call goo to man evolution fiction?

It's hard to comprehend what point they're trying to make. It's not a logical list. Usually, the mainstream mocks people who believe in Loch Ness, but not in global warming. I didn't think anybody got mocked for believing in evolution. In my mind, these things have nothing in common that should put them in the same list quantifying them as fictional.

Maybe there's a new cutting edge thinking-elite out there who's too smart to believe in evolution or global warming?

Personally I believe the Loch Ness Monster is real- a living dinosaur. I believe global warming is a hoax based on false assumptions, and I believe evolution is a lie, fashioned as an alternative to the necessity of being accountable to God at the end of one's life. In my mind, only 2 of those 3 items is fictional.

I'm just as confused as you are about what kind of statement the writer was trying to make, but one thing I am sure of, it is not pro-creation. House is a lawless character. The show seems to have a sinister agenda.
