  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

AN OASIS FOR YOU!

HOUSE BUILDING

I live in a neighborhood with lots of new construction going on, so I see lots of homes in various stages. After the foundation for the house is poured and dried, the outside walls go up! The roof is shingled and the windows are put in place while the inside details take shape. So many details on the inside are required. Much more care-taking expensive work is done on the inside. From the street a house can look completely finished, until you peek through a window and look at the inside!! Inside work must be completed in proper order … you really should run all the wires through the house before the drywall goes up, and you really should paint the walls before the carpet is laid. Lots of planning and coordinating goes on during these stages. The fine craftsmanship and detail taken on the inside of a house can raise the appeal substantially. Take even a small house with a little yard and place a fantastic kitchen in it and watch the value soar. Oh yeah there are certain rooms in the house that are worth the extra investment.

If that much care and specialty work is needed for just a house, imagine how much work is required inside me and you!! Now that’s a thought to ponder!! The purity and self-control of our thoughts and motives is a private matter, that only the Lord Jesus can correctly remodel in our lives. He does so room by room as we welcome Him in. Some rooms take a little longer than others – especially if they’ve been damaged, say had some termites or roof leaks. Some rooms when remodeling actually first go through a demolition period, but the final room is always beautiful. Let Jesus into your home today and cooperate with His remodeling! Where is He working? Is it the kitchen – where you are being fed? Is the bedroom – where you rest? Is it the livingroom – where you work and play? Is it the bathroom – where you rid yourself of the filth of the flesh? Is the attic where perhaps painful memories haunt you? He can remodel that room too. Allow His Word and the Holy Spirit to demolish the old and build the new.

Ephesians 2:19-22 "…you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and raised to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit."

Psalm 127:1 "Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain."

Ephesians 4:16 "From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work."
