Have you ever looked into jobs that you can do from home? One job I've always kept in my back pocket in case something were to go wrong with the jobs I have is medical transcription. A childhood friend of mine was raised by a single mom and that's how she provided for them. I gotta think it's even easier nowadays with the the web and media being what it is, and the median salary is $37,550 according to US Career Institute.
