hosting dns questions

I got a domain from xyz company. but im going to host at abc company.

how do I get the site to work? Im rusty on this. use to know how, but it's been years.

I think I just need to set the dns settings? not sure. help!

Get the info from ABC to where to point it to (often dns1 dns2 address) and update your account. Got to XYZ and set up the DNS info for you domain name (to the DNS1&2 location info). Takes 1 to 3 days for it to update once you get the info set up.

It has been my experience that it doesn't take any longer than 24 hours... in many cases it's almost instant. I have done this many times. It is as said previously, set the DNS settings according to the abc company (or whoever you want the host to be).
