Hi,

I have not seen this film or the first, but have however read many reviews on these films. The first was about guys and was pretty sick, this one is about girls and is apparently a lot sicker. Eli Roth who wrote and directed these films has stated how he wanted to "up the ante" on the torture and revelled on how much sicker this one will be. He even stated that the special effects department had to turn away when filming one scene because it was so disturbing. So any believer in Christ who would watch such films as entertainment must address some serious psychological issues.

Or maybe they realize it's just a movie and is not real.

Blah blah blah. Every time someone wants to talk about a movie or a controversial media something or other everyone always tries to preach. If you haven't seen it, and you want to push your agenda onto people who want to entertain themselves perhaps you should make your own thread and not derail these threads with thoughts that don't talk about the movie (like I just did!)

Personally, I haven't seen either of them. Though I want to after seeing Eli Roth's commercial in Grindhouse. That was a funny commercial. :D

Seriously, I'm so sick of it. For example, "Oh hey I like this movie!!!" Reply: "You have a mental disorder!"

It gets old people. I know this is a Christian Message board, but if we want to talk about movies let us talk about movies. :)

Well, I have seen the first movie, much to my dismay, and I thought it was terrible because it tried to be a horror film and it did not scare at all. All it did was to gross people out and see how far people could take it. Considering that I've read that this sequel is more of the same with different characters, I don't see how it will be any different. Also, I've read other secular critics and moviegoers raise the very same objections I have about the "Hostel" movies so it is not strictly a "Christian" preachy idea (just go to a critics' website like rottentomatoes). I like to think I have an open mind and I personally don't object to horror films, even violent ones, as long as they are done well artistically and actually scare me. Movies like "Hostel" don't even do a good job of building real suspense and exist only to exploit suffering and violence and life is too short for movies like this.
