• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Believe it or not you are actually making progress although it seems like you are taking a step back. You are learning to recognize the depression and when it is out of hand, and that is a good thing. You also recognize that the hospital is where you need to be. There you get help to learn how to deal with some of the basic problems we face with depression. So you are making progress. Eventually you are going to learn you have to make some lifestyle changes and you'll learn some of the triggers of depression, so you can avoid them. So don't get down on yourself for having to take this step. It is actually a step in the right direction. You are in my prayers and God Bless You.

Going to the hospital is always a nervewracking experience - I know! - but often times it is for the best. I think that you are very brave for doing this. I hope that you can learn some coping mechanisms and possibly work out a treatment plan whilst there. I send hope and prayers your way.

It is good that you know your limits - and I agree with others, that is progress.

With help, you can get more stability and back on your feet... and make more progress.

I remember a time when it seemed like for every 2 steps forward, there was 1 back... but it was only 1! It always felt like 3... but feelings lie. In the midst of it, we can't see very clear and it's important to trust others during this time to help us make good decisions. It sounds like you've done that.

Hi
God Bless You and Keep you in His loving arms. Have you given up on anti-depressant medication? It never helped me. I took 12 ECT treatments early this year and it was like a miracle. I have no memory loss from the treatments and like most people, when you get over a period of depression your memory is much better. Praise the Lord. Please do not be turned off by the stigma of ECT, (Shock Therapy) that Hollywood has assigned to this very helpful option.
