Horse/Deer

I dreamt that I was hunting a deer. I was on a neighborhood and I saw one standing in front of a church, right at the entrance. I don't remember holding a gun or shotgun in my hand, but I shot the deer. As I got closer, I realized the deer was a black horse and I shot it 3-4 times right in the area of the eye. The horse kept looking at me right in the eye but didn't die and leaned against the door of the church. Although I knew it was a horse, I kept thinking it was a deer and that I needed to go get someone to help me carry the deer away.

I don't hunt and I like horses, but don't ride a horse. I did recently hear of a priest who I used to know moving to a church closer to where I live. I have thought about going to celebrate Mass where he is.

I seem to be having frequent dreams where I think something is and when I get closer turns out to be something else. This is happening whether it be a inanimate object, animal or person.

A black horse can represent lack -- as in deprived, impoverished, poor. A deer can represent longing and hungering for the things of God.

There seems to be a struggle in that area -- between lack (let's say lack of God) and longing for God. Perhaps the church is a pivotal issue in this battle. You tried to kill lack, and yet it still staggers there, facing you. It shouldn't be at church, yet it is. It is at the door, door stands for a way, a possibility, grace. Shot in the eye -- blinding it, cutting off its ability to watch, weaken, take off guard.

Deception -- that is the word I feel. Things are not as you perceive. Why is this? Are there belief-systems you are challenging now? Dig, something is there for you. Blessings.
