• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
 • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I had a teacher for my Topics in Biology class (bio for non-science majors and who needed a science course for core class credit)...and it was her first year teaching at the school.

And literally, she just read out of our text book and put stuff from the text book on the board for lecture. Our quizzes were questions from the book. But our tests were questions she made up and that made no sense!!!

I had a professor for a Sociology class that made us write like 15 papers in one semester. He would always go off tangent and no one was able to follow his thought process. One lecture he talked for an hour and a half about different uses of a chair!!! His grading of our papers were so subjective that people who actually put in the time in their papers actually got worse grades.

On top of that, the class was at 8 in the morning and he took attendance so we had to show up :) It was definitely one long semester!!

Oh last year I had a tutor who was always miserable. He presumed that we were all the same - ie i know you all drink/ smoke so how much would it cost. ughhhh that really annoyed me.

He kept sniffing something through the lecture and talking about his problems with his teenage daughter.

Then he treated us all like we were stupid - everything ended in ill put it in terms you will understand - which usually ended with an example about alcohol.

aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

and all this at 9am on a monday morning!!!!

My first theory teacher was a very old lady and for one hour twice a week we would sit there and lecture us all morning and we are not allowed to speak, not even a sentence. that went on for a whole year(yearly subject)

AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Wow! I'm not the only one!

I have an instructor this quarter, every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9:40 p.m., so it's a long class anyway. For 3/4 of the almost-four hour class, we sit and listen to what she did over the weekend. Then, at about 9 or so, she gives us our assignments which are usually 3-5 essays that have to be 3-5 pages in length. AUGH! One more week, and I'm free!

Nope...not exagerating!! The professor made us write a 3-4 page paper per week for 15 weeks, plus a 10 page research paper at the end of the semester. He offered another Sociology class the following semester...there was no way I was going to take him again!!! :)

I find 3-4 pages isn't much. One per week is more exagerate...

Last year I had a french teacher who began telling the class we were not intrested in her subject and we were 5 year old in our mind. Most of us spent the year doing maths or physics during her classes (I was among the three or four who took notes) .

But there are two lectures she was very happy to see the pupils participate... In fact, they had found a game which consisted in asking questions to the teacher with a special word in it (as "crocodile", "elephant", "Voltaire", "video"...) We laughed a lot this day !!! :D :D

I am a soon to graduate Senior and I have had a few rough teachers. One was my Understanding the Bible teacher. I always teased and said it was my NOT Understanding the Bible class. I was fortunate that I had grown up in church and participated in a four year program when I was in middle/high school and already knew most of the material, but he was a horrible teacher that never made any sense.

My other bad proffessor is really a great guy but I learn nothing in his class... he always goes off on this tangent about Grace and Nature, and then never gets the objectives of the class through to us. It drives me crazy. Oh and he's a lit teacher. Anywho!

I had a trumpet teacher once who I thought was a really bad teacher (he was a great guy, and I actually hung out with him outside of school a couple times), but after he left my college, I thought about it and realized that I learned a LOT of stuff from him. His method of teaching was so laid back that you didn't feel like you were learning anything, though.

I had a American History Part 2 teacher for Fall Flex II
,last semester,which just ended.

He Sucked!

In a 1 1/2 month semester,we met x2 a week and the classes should of been 3 hrs long,6pm-9pm,but he always ended his lectures at about 7:30 on avarage,1/2 the time!!!

He made us do:

4 In-Classs Essays,w/ each essay assigning 2 LONG essays
5 Quizes which coulden't be made up if absent(for attend.but worth part of the grade and no extra)
1 Power Point Presentation that required ate least 3 sources that had to be from specific books and such(no General Encylopedias or text books)
4 Tests which all were Multiple Choice and 3 small essays each(except the final which was 100 m.c.)

He never took the time to go over half of what we were assigned to do.
Plus, that much work isn't necessary to learn about history!

I should of made a complaint about him,but the semesters over now and the school dosent re-open 'till Jan.6 th.

I made a D,I was lucky to even pass!!!!!

In Christ,

Hector

LOL... Once I had a Geography teacher (back in school) who would talk all lesson about his overseas trips. Mind you nothing to do with geography. Of course it was more iteresting than geography so we didn't complain. Only thing, we never knew what our assignments was until about a week before it was due in.

Oh, and don't I know it! I have him for Shakespeare this semester and I am loving the class. The people in there are so off and he gets so mad. We are discussing A Midsummer Night's Dream right now and the concept of love at first sight. Talk about interesting debate!

BTW I was not criticizing, just venting.

A God Chaser,
Jess
