I thought of posting this under a more supportive or encouraging section but I think the situation might have more value as a warning.
Right, here goes.
Horoscopes are like drinking, gambling and cocaine. It's a drug. Trust me. Just recently this stuff almost destroyed me. I lost a bit of money but that's not the real issue. The big problem is what this stuff does to you.
It's been preached and warned about over and over again and passages are always quoted by those who's never stood in horoscope junkie's shoes for one day. They also have no idea how to approach the problem when it is there in the first place. And it can be a pretty big problem, especially when you believe in God. That part is destroyed in a heartbeat. And the worst is, there is no cure until you reach the end date of your reading. After that, you got a blank sheet. Or so you believe...
That's the other part. The real BIGGY. The planets, the moon and the stars are like gods, with the power to make or break you. It's influence and suffocating grip isn't felt when you're still sniffing a line of Jupiter or Saturn every weekend but sooner or later when some random prediction get's it right, you have taken the bait. And mostly it's when you are at your lowest. Someone said once "You can farthest when it's dark". I think I saw stars and took it the wrong way.
It is, for all ends and purposes the worship of false gods. This is now as clear as day to me.
I might sound quite relaxed about this but I'm not. Truth is I am really confused and I have no idea how to get out of this. I know God has the power to change and do anything. But how do I release my faith in something that has me in it's grip for the next month, year or even decade? And I've tried and failed so many times. Because my mind and the self-centered reality that it creates does not allow me to see beyond this fabricated world. Every time something happens I am torn between what is from God and what is from "Your friendly face astrologer". What is reality? What is the truth?
The first step is obvious. Don't read it. Simple enough. But it's that putrid lingering smell that hangs around your future that never goes away. And that is the most dangerous part of Astrology. It takes away your faith because you can't differentiate between two realities. Or rather, one reality and one fantasy.
This fantasy/reality conflict could also be blamed on the media. Different programs but similar effect except the one "advises you" and the other "tells you". Astrology wants to empower a individual. You have a say in your own destiny! Sweet. But isn't that rebellion? If God's son showed us the ultimate way to live, and he did nothing except what the Father instructed him to do, then anything else must be a form of rebellion? So where does that leave us?
I guess the Old Testament is a good indication. Moses was the most humble man to walk the earth and that was precisely the reason why he was called. He could listen. But even he failed.
Astrology is one of the most underestimated evil's in the world. Christians should be on a full rampage about this and yet, many find it harmless. It doesn't rip apart a fetus, or destroy a man's liver but it creates havoc on the mind. That one singular voice you have that connects you to God. It eats away at it like a virus until all that's left is a destitute man without faith or future.
