HOPE in HELL
For women in an abusive relationship
By K A Graaf
She didnt have a hope in her hell
She didnt have to die, to have horror story to tell
tormented beyond what she could bare
She cried out,
wanting to find a way out of her despair
but still she remained
bound to her abusive chains
She could not find the strength within
to get away from him
Beaten until she was black and blue
she hid behind her sunglasses
wanting to hide the awful truth
Her children would watch as their father
abused their mother with his hands
The children turned and hid their faces
In sorrow, they wept, too young to understand
At night she cried
tired and weary from the constant fights
Friends told her to leave
but she didnt know how
She was tied and chained to this man somehow
After he abused her,
he uttered words of regret
She believed him once again
and tried to forgive and forget
Days later, he again becomes
the monster in her nightmares
She screams in desperation
for there is not much more she can bare
She threatens to take the children and leave
desperate to find a way out of her fear filled reality
She sinks to the floor in exhaustion
she can not live anymore in this abusive situation
She cannot move,
She is frozen, because she knows
if she goes
more abuse will follow
She is in hell, with no means of escape
She struggles as she tries to come to terms with
the decision she must make
Loneliness suffocates her,
The love she once had for this man
has completely died
Finally she gathers the courage to leave
and walks, with all she can carry
with three small children at her side
Her children are the only ones she lives for
It was for them also; she decided to walk out the door
In a small, run down house she lives
with three children to feed
She has taken a restraining order out against him
to protect her and the children
from the violence
If she only knew, there is a Hope in her Hell
If she only knew there was One
who could be her confidence
If only she knew this Savour and Lord
who could give her Hope and Peace
and give her comfort in all her despair and misery
Jesus has seen all her pain and suffering
He is waiting, and His hands are reaching out
to the abused woman, who thought
She had no Hope in her Hell on earth
Jesus will be a comfort and friend
and breathe His Spirits strength into her
Although she is now alone
Jesus will not leave her
without the promise of His Hope
He will be there,
He will be her shelter and strong refuge
He will heal the damaged soul and heart
of this dear woman, which has been so abused
He will give her the grace to enable her to stand
He will give her the love to forgive this cruel, violent man
He will give her the joy to raise her children by herself
He will be her strength and her source of help
Jesus will come to her rescue
and fight the battle for her
He will incline his ear towards her and listen
to her desperation in the hell she has lived in
God has seen all
He will hear her cries and anxious calls
Dear woman, you dont have to be alone
you dont have to survive on your own
Jesus will be right there and carry you through
He will be a Mighty Warrior
and do the fighting for you
He cannot promise, that you will not go through hardships
But He can give you the strength
and courage to get through it
He may not, be able to calm the storms right away
But He will give you a HOPE
that you will see blue skies again, someday.
He will carry your children,
His precious lambs, in His arms
and gently lead you
When you are tired and weary
He will carry you through
I know a woman who would not have made it
unless she knew, Jesus as her Saviour ,
Lord and friend
He was her confidence and courage
Jesus was her tower of strength
He was her comfort and safe refuge
Jesus was her deliverer and healer
from the pain of her violent abuse
Her children are now serving the Lord
Because she spent hours, kneeling on the floor
God bottled every tear she cried
heard every prayer she prayed
and now she can finally see
Blue skies, after all the storms have cleared
Jesus carried her when she was too weak to stand
He became her rock when her life was sinking in the sand
He became her joy and security
This wonderful woman showed me who God is
and what He can do
I saw these things with my own eyes
and she taught me, that when it seems like
theres no hope in hell
Jesus can and will become all these things to me too
