But those wouldn't be the plates in question, now would they.

Perhaps you are suggesting that because some things are pure gold, then all things must be pure gold?
Hi there!

Of course not... but then using that same logic and applying it to the bom... then steel cannot be taken to mean steel, but any just a type of alloy?

Golden plates are golden plates...

If the bom were written in a language that could be traced, then the evidence would be in the original language... but you know how that goes....

If I cannot take the bom at "it's word", then say so.

That is hardly the point, but I'm sure you knew that. No one is saying that gold is not gold. This isn't a definition question.

While the plates you refered to are said to have been pure gold, those are not the plates in question - in this thread - that Jos. Smith carried around.

Your earlier post implied that they were the same plates but you know that they are not.

For the third time now: the Temple Institute says nothing about the device reflecting light to work.

...but thank you for the other nice reference that is not from the Institute.

If you have further questions concerning the "picture" and the description at the Temple Institute, then I recommend that you email them for the information. There is a "contact" on the site.

Alma

Ah, yes. The Urim & Thummim, from the days of the Hebrews - before Christ.

Urim represented light. Thummin represented truth.

After Christ came along, all that stuff ended, (for followers of Christ anyway). To Christ's followers, Christ is the Light. Christ is the Truth.

He sent us the Holy Spirit as our guide. :)
