Honest Introduction

Hi all,

I'm new here today! I'm 30, female, and my whole life I've believed in God. But I never had a true relationship with Him. It's always been hard for me to go all-in. It's always been an on-and-off type thing. I have feared death too. I've opened a Bible maybe 10 times in my life (like I said, being honest here). But lately I've been growing a lot (thanks to God). The book The Purpose Driven Life has helped me immensely. I'm now 13 days into it. I hope to have a strong relationship with Jesus from now on in which I can talk to Him any time. This past year and a half has had me bitter because of the state of the world. I really hope that my bitterness can change through Him.

Today I (shock!) started reading the book of John and hi-lighting parts that were important to me. I made an official pact by writing this in on the first page of the book: This Bible was presented to Julia by Jesus Christ in Summer/Fall, 2021. That space is really meant for people to write in their names when gifting the Bible, but I considered Jesus to be the one who gifted it to me. I realized I didn't have a nice Bible so bought one randomly one day recently (although we all know that certain things aren't REALLY random). I hope to keep reading it and growing closer to God. It's definitely something you have to make a POINT to work at. Like all relationships. I've also been researching and pondering a lot lately at how Jesus can be both God and the Son of God all at the same time. It's becoming clearer to me.

I do belong to a great church. But definitely need to go more often than I do. I've also been watching the show The Chosen and it's very good. How many of you have seen it?

I guess you could basically say I'm becoming a born-again Christian in a way. Now is finally the time. Looking forward to talking with you! Sorry for the long post, but thank you for reading.

Welcome to 'The Way'

One think that might be helpful - folks are often afraid of giving God control - letting Him take the wheel of your life.

I used to be afraid of total commitment until I realised that He is a God of order and to surrender to Him and letting go is not a freakout because the result of fully letting go and giving all to Him is letting His order be established in you and your circumstances. This leads to better outcomes because He knows what you need better than you do.

Nice to meet you Julia...there has never been a better time than now to get really serious about walking with the Lord. The world is in bad shape and I believe it will get MUCH WORSE before Jesus returns...and having a relationship with Him will be CRITICAL.

Welcome to CF Julia. So glad you are here. I am glad you are seeking after God and opening up his Word and The Purpose Driven Life. The Chosen series is my favorite. If I ever have time I want to keep watching season two. It is a pretty amazing series. But anyhow, welcome to the forums! I'll keep you in prayer as you draw closer in your relationship with God. Getting in the Bible is a good start.
