But people interpret the words to mean something different. Case in point, the passage mentioned before. Ignoring possible translation errors and bias in those translations, the wording itself is vague. If you read it one way, it can be talking about men who leave their wives to have sex with other men. If you read it another way, it's talking about men who have sex with thier wives purely for pleasure and not to have children.

Both interpretations are, in a literal sense, valid. There's no twisting of words - it's simply a question of who "eachother" is refering to.

Have you considered the instructions around avoiding "fornication" or "sexual immorality" in 1 Cor. 6:18; 7:1-9. To avoid "fornication", a man is to have his own wife, and a woman her own husband (7:2). Those who are unmarried are to marry if they cannot control their passions (7:8-9). God does NOT condemn the marriage bed (Heb. 13:4).

Consider the word "fornication" that appears numerous times in the N.T. The Koine Greek word "porneia" is a broad term that includes any sexual relations outside of marriage. And, since God only approves of marriage between a man and a woman (see Matt. 19:3-6), that should be sufficient to show us that homosexuality is NOT pleasing to God.

As an atheist evolutionist, I don't see you putting much confidence in what the Bible says. While I am going to appeal to the Bible for God's judgment on this matter, I am interested in what you appeal to for determining right from wrong. I can't be sure, but your answer sounds like a combination of society's judgment along with your's. I'm not sure that we have any common ground to work from.

Those who are atheists by definition do NOT believe in God - - the prefix "a" meaning "no" or "none" and "theist" meaning one who believes in God. Consequently, I am just wondering what common standard we have, if any, to work with to determine right from wrong.
