  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That is not even equatable!

Ohioprof OR you have no reason to believe that the people God, inspired with His powerful message, were inaccurate in ANY way.

My God is powerful enough to create this universe. why would He be any less powerful to ensure accuracy of His message to the world?

Not all Christians have had the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but all do have the indwelling Holy Spirit, FYI.
Of course the Bible is errant. There are two different Genesis creation stories, and they conflict with the evidence from evolution. That's just one example. There is plenty of evidence that most of the stories in the Bible are not literally true. Jesus was not literally born of a virgin, and he never rose physically from the dead either. That's just a story. It's a good story, but it's not literally a true story.

God is merciful, but then again, the righteous shall live by faith. We are taught that are own righteousness is like filthy rags.

Habakkuk 2:4
"Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous will live by his faith."

Romans 1:17
"For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.""

"All of us have become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;
we all shrivel up like a leaf,
and like the wind our sins sweep us away."
ISiAh 64:6

If Jesus was not literally resurrected, we are still dead in our sins and our righteousness is still like filthy rags.

Not in my view. I think we are mostly good people doing our best in life, and we are all saved. That means that when we die, we all return to God, from whence we came. Animals and plants do likewise, I think.
