I really do like Jesus...His words seem so perfect to me when I read the bible...I would like to be a Christian, but it is against god to be gay, and I have been struggling with homosexuality for a few years now...Can you not be gay and Christian?
If anybody wants to pm that would be fine...Thanks for any help.

Hmmm......... I believe you can. Because your existance is a sin against God in itself, I don't see why it would bar you from being Christian and believing in Jesus. A heterosexual is as much of a sinner as a homosexual in God's eyes (according to the bible, not me). And remember that no matter how many sins you commit, having faith in Jesus will grant you access to heaven. I think the only trouble with being a gay Christian is the terrible amount of intolerance you recieve. But this may just be a trial of God to test your faith, and being true to yourself and Jesus is probably much greater in Gods eyes.

If you want to be a Christian, you must decide what you truly want more. to love and honor God by following his commandments or leading the life you want to lead for yourself.

It is a touch choice and being a Christian isn't easy. But, since you have taken the inquisitive step in seeking guidance, I pray that God will help me help you.

First things first. Please continue reading with an open mind and open heart to let God speak to you through your conscience. And please understand that I am not judging you...after all, it isn't my place.

Would you consider yourself to be a good person? Then read on to find out if you really are good. This is a test of self-
examination to see if you have upheld true goodness.
Have you ever told a lie? What does that make you?
The Ninth of the Ten Commandments is "You shall not lie." Telling even just one lie, even a little, white fib, according to
God's standards, makes you a "liar."
Revelation 21:8 says, "…all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone…”
Have you ever stolen anything….no matter how small or how long ago? What does that make you?
The Eighth of the Ten Commandments is "You shall not steal." The value is irrelevant. Taking something that doesn’t
belong to you makes you a “thief.”
In 1 Corinthians 6:10, God says, ”[Neither] thieves… nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.”
Have you ever committed adultery? Before you answer to this one, read on.
The Seventh of the Ten Commandments is "You shall not commit adultery." One definition of adultery means marital
infidelity. Another states: Lewdness or unchastity of thought as well as act. And another describes it as: Faithlessness in
religion.
In Mathew 5:27-28, Jesus says "You have heard that it was said to those of old, you shall not commit adultery.' But I
say to you that whoever looks [with]…lust…has already committed adultery…in his [or her] heart.”
Have you ever murdered anyone? Again, read further before you give your final answer.
The Sixth of the Ten Commandments is “You shall not kill." To kill is to murder. Murder is defined as willfully putting an
end to life. Another definition means to mutilate or mangle.
In Matthew 5:21-22, Jesus says, "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not kill; and whoever
kills shall be liable to judgment.' But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother [has murdered and]
shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother [has murdered and] shall be liable to the council, and
whoever says, 'You fool!' [has murdered and] shall be liable to the hell of fire.”
Have you ever blasphemed? Have you ever used any of the names of the one who gave you precious life in a manner that
was anything but respectful or appreciative?
The Third of the Ten Commandments is "You shall not take the name of the Lord in vain." If you've ever used the name
"God," "Jesus," or "Christ" as a curse word, what you've done is commit "blasphemy," and according to God's standards,
you are a "blasphemer."
In Luke 12:10, Jesus says, “…he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him.”
Do you love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength? Do you let anything in life interfere with your worship of
God?
The First of the Ten Commandments is Exodus 20:3: "You shall have no other gods before
me." That means that we should love God with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength. Even our love for family and
friends should seem like pure hatred in comparison. And to put other things in life above God is a horrible sin.
In Psalm 14:2-3 The Bible tells us that no one has kept this commandment – “The LORD has looked down from
heaven upon the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside,
together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.” Therefore, even if we obey all of
the nine other commandments, there is no one who is not guilty of this commandment.
Your deeds will NOT guarantee salvation:
In Isaiah 64:6, the Bible says, “For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are
like a filthy garment; and all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.” Therefore, no
matter what good you do in this world, you WILL NOT get into Heaven. Forget what good deeds you have done, as
they don’t matter in front of a judge. Think about it. If a mass murderer were found guilty in a court of law, but
pleaded for the judge to let him go free because he gave to charity and volunteered at a soup kitchen, the judge would
pretty much laugh in his face and send him up the river anyway.
From the above, we have only covered six of the Ten Commandments and there is no way you could have answered no to
all of them. It is pretty certain that you have pleaded guilty to all six and would have to plead guilty to the rest as well.
Therefore, by those standards, are you innocent or guilty? Would you go to Heaven or Hell? Do you feel like you are in
trouble? Does this have you thinking and concerned about your eternal fate?
And while it may seem that God's goodness will cause Him to overlook your sins in forgiveness, the opposite is actually
true. The very thing you are counting on to save you on the Day of Judgment -- namely God's goodness -- is going to be the
very thing that will see to it that justice is done. Because God is so good He will make sure that every murderer, rapist and
thief receives justice... but He won't stop there. He will also make sure every liar, blasphemer, and adulterer is punished.
While this is something that is extremely tragic and far from God's ultimate desire for any person, the Bible is clear that the
place of punishment for those who do not turn from their sins is Hell. The Bible refers to the fate of the unsaved (HELL)
with such fearful words as the following:
* “Shame and everlasting contempt” (Daniel 12:2)
* “Everlasting punishment” (Matthew 25:46)
* “Weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 24:51)
* “Fire unquenchable” (Luke 3:17)
* “Indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish” (Romans 2:8,9)
* “Everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord” (2 Thessalonians 1:9)
* “Eternal fire...the blackness of darkness for ever” (Jude 7,13)
* “He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone...the smoke of their torment ascended up for ever and ever: and they
have no rest day or night." (Revelation 14:10,11)
Does the possibility of going to hell concern you? It should!
Do you know what God did for you so that you wouldn't have to be punished for your sins and spend
eternity in Hell?
God does have a wonderful plan for your life. But because you are a sinful person and separated from God, you CANNOT
know God’s love and plan for your life until you accept Jesus Christ as God's ONLY provision for your sin. Through
BELIEVING in Jesus, and individually RECEIVING Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord; then you can
BECOME a child of God and know and experience His love and plan for you life.
In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me."
God loves you so much that He sent His son for you so that He would pay the price for your sins and be punished in your
place. All you have to do is confess and forsake your sins and Trust in Jesus with Faith as your personal Lord and Savior.
John 3:16-17 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the
world might be saved through Him.”
The life, suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are told in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John in the
New Testament of the Bible. Jesus was accurately prophesied in verses of the Old Testament, written from c. 1500-400B.C.!
If concern over your eternal fate is weighing heavy on your heart, it is now time to ask God to forgive you and accept Jesus
into your heart. You can pray something like this –
"Dear God, I repent of all my sins, I have (name your sins) against you. I now and forever put my trust in Jesus
Christ as Lord (to say Jesus is your Lord means you are now making Jesus the master over your life) and Savior.
Forgive me and grant me your gift of everlasting life. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen." (God knows your heart
better than you, so please be honest with Him in praying)

Once you have surrenderd your life to Christ, you can then let God handle all your struggles for you. The issue of being gay will be nullified because it won't matter compared to knowing God's love for you. But first you must put your focus on God and allow Him to work in your life, for His purpose, not yours. God does love you. I love you.

Please search your heart and let God into your life. If you would like to know what next...just ask!

"having faith in Jesus will grant you access to heaven"

You must also make every effort to turn from the sins Jesus died for. Yes, by surrenduring to Jesus as Lord and Savior, You will be forgiven. But to willfully be a worker of iniquity will be disobedient to God. For someone to live a gay lifestile and profess to be a Christian is contradictory. The bible does state:

- "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' - Matthew 7:21–23

God loves all homosexuals! He hates the deeds of homosexuality because they are sinful.

Once you become saved, your turmoil over being gay will end and you will merely wish to follow in Jesus' footsteps.

If after becoming save, you still willfully and intentionally sin as a homosexual, then you will be liable to the following:

1 Corinthians 6:9-10: "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters, nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

Leviticus 20:13: "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

I pray that God's will will lead you to salvation.

Your conscience has led you to realize how sinful you are. I am guilty of all ten myself. and I struggle with sin everyday. But I do know that through Jesus, a can be victorious ove my sins by the grace of God. Again, I was not intending to judge you but to help you enlighten yourself. Once you can deal with your sins as God's standards defines them, then you can be assured that God will help you with any and all personal struggles you have.

There is nothing wrong with love as long as it is a mirror of God's love. Yes it is important to love your neighbor as yourself. But it is even more important to love your neighbor as Jesus loves you.

It is how you act on that love that defines the sin. if you are acting based on your wants and desires and not to glorify God, then you are sinning because you are breaking that first commandment. it is the same thing with hetero sex. God ordained marriage between a man and a woman to glorify Him. He gave sex to be performed by a man and woman to glorify Him. Sex is meant to be enjoyable to honor God, not to be used as a physical sensation alone. The physical homosexual act cannot glorify God, therefore it is a sin.

I know these are difficult comcepts for you, but they are the truth.

I am not sure if I am in the right place or not, but I have some questions on homosexuality.

I personally want to become a christian...I think the words of christ are perfect. I cannot become a christian because I struggle with homosexuality...How against homosexuality is Jesus?

Struggling with it, but abstaining does not preclude you from being Christian. The Bible discusses homosexuality (the act of committing homosexual acts) at length. But, all people are sinners and were cleansed by Christ. Nothing you have done in the past will be held against you after you accept Christ. You are cleansed by His blood. Jesus never speaks directly about homosexuality, but the New Testament speaks specifically about it in Romans 1 and in several other places regarding sexual immorality. The Old Testament speaks more directly about homosexuality. Just remember that each person is proned to one type of sin or another. Satan knows how to push our buttons to try to keep us from God and righteous living. Satan puts thoughts into our heads that we cannot be Saved because of our sin. We are all sinners and are free of these sins once we accept Christ. We need to work to abstain from whatever sin we are proned to. We all struggle with one sin or another. Sin is sin. And noone is righteous without Christ. Anyone who believes and calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

(PS- the thread in Gen Apologetics was closed. Struggles with Christianity is a more appropriate place to post questions about Christianity. Gen Apolo will net a smathering of secular responses.)

Those feeling come from a sinful heart. Remember that all physical attraction is not directed or ordained by God. By seeking a relationship based on sexual orientation means that you are not trusting God to give you the mate He needs you to have. If you were to surrender your life to Christ, that sinful heart would be so filled with love for God, that you would no longer seek things in this life that you want, but allow God to work in your life according to His plan for you. And God would NOT lead you to a homosexual existence.

Well, according to the bible I am a thief, liar, adulterer, pagan, murderer, and so on...Never realised I broke so many commandments...Plus I might have the wrong sexual orientation...Whoa!
Well, that's why Jesus died - to forgive your many sins should you choose to accept it.

msindiausa said:
You really think so?...I have heard from some that you can be a gay christian as long as you dont act on it.
This is what I believe, let me explain. I'm not tempted to lust after another man very often. A homosexual would be. What tempts you doesn't make you the sinner, it is saying "yes" to the temptation, whether it is entertaining the fantasy in your mind, or actually going out into the gay community and trying to hook up.

James 2:10 tells us that all sin is equally damnable in God's eyes - "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it." And there are other sins that Christians commit all the time that are just as hard to overcome as homosexuality. For example, I have a short temper. That is not acceptable to God and I need to practice self-control. If not for His forgiveness, I would be in real trouble. Now, I'm pretty sure I got it from my dad either genetically or just having grown up with his temper. But it doesn't matter how I got that tendency, that weakness, that stronghold of sin in my life. What matters is whether I say "yes" to the temptation to lose it or not. I don't see why homosexuality should be treated differently, because according to the Bible, the two sins are on equal ground.

So, we are only suppose to have the nature of christ?
Yes. Being the only person without an evil side, He is the example we must all follow. Our human nature has an evil side which cannot be tolerated. That's why He died in our place to forgive us, and enable us become like Him. We are to accept His forgivness and the Holy Spirit so that evil nature can slowly be put to death and replaced by a Christlike nature.

No - getting married and having kids is not sinful. In fact, Scripture promotes it. What I mean by having Christ's nature is losing the tendency/will to sin. We are all born with it, but He didn't have it. Furthermore, being the Son of God and considering His mission on earth, marraige and Jesus just would not mix. At the age when most men would be settling down and starting families, He was teaching, making followers and enemies, and bearing our sin on a cross.
