  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Actually, I would think that question is more for paleoanthropology. Evolution tells us about the transition between species. Paleoanthropology tells us more about who each species was.

In which case, we're talking about Africa, and it seems likely they were dark-skinned. However, I'm not an expert.

Um, there is more genetic diversity in a race, than between them. Which means, quite simply, that "race" is just an arbitrary measurement.

What's the difference between a black man and a white man? The amount of pigment produced by his skin cells. Everything else (height, weight, athletic ability, intelligence, whatnot) is no more different than you can find between two whites, or two blacks.

That sickle cell anemia is unique to blacks is a widely held belief, and as I recall, was used as evidence on Law & Order, for instance. It's more common in blacks (present in 1/8 of blacks worldwide, and 1 in 500 American blacks), to the point that the presence of it in Caucasians has been argued (true or not) to suggest that those Caucasians have a black ancestor.

My wife has a explaination for that. In the beginning God created man out of the clay of the earth and put him in the oven. But the man came out to white. So God decided to try again, but the man came out to dark. So He tried again and this time the man came out just right, not to dark, not to light.

But you got to remember, this story comes from a women who carries a umbrella in the summer to keep the sun off of her, so she does not get to dark.

I think the theory about race is outdated. If you took a person from the south pacific, one from Alaska, and another from mexico, you would have a very hard time to tell them apart. As the world becomes a "smaller" place, some of the theorys from 100 years ago are just not holding up.
