Not to be a stinker, but I thought that drunkards wouldn't inherit the kingdom of GOD. That verse is why no one in my family drinks, I thought it was sinful...

...but you said that no one in the middle ages really got drunk. That's good. But drinking beer can lead to someone getting drunk, and sinning, I'm just saying....

Read the account of Jesus' first miracle, water into wine.

Many churches have gone a little overboard since prohibition.
Eating can lead to gluttony. Anything good can be abused.

I very rarely drink anything, but I do keep a couple of bottles
of grape wine in the house and have a small drink occasionally.

Lived in North Dakota many years ago for about 4 1/2 years. Most people canned and made their own hooch. My next door neighbors were a lovely old couple and they taught me how to make dandelion wine. She could make wine out of frozen grape juice. I may even still have the recipe. I also made gallons of chokecherry wine. The dandelion wine was the strongest, and most time consuming as you could only use the yellow petals of the flower. Lawns were not mowed during dandelion season, they were picked. That stuff could curl your hair. Many made their own beer, I never did. North Dakota is one of the top beer guzzling states. I think there was a bar about every block. That's the state's pastime, esp. during the winter. I guess that's why there are so many bars, so you don't have to travel far in the winter with all that snow.
