One thing I am curious about, is it common for statues of Mary to have so much hair showing?
Well this statue in particular is quite unique, it's called Our Lady of Hope, I don't know much about it but apparently it was made by Columbian widows who want peace in their country. I got this statue both simply because it sparked my interest, being a statue of Our Lady pregnant, and because I did my Marian Entrustment on the Feast of the Visitation and so I figured it would be appropriate to get a statue of Our Lady pregnant. (And much to my delight, the statue arrived right on the day of the Visitation.)

In regards to images of Our Lady showing her hair, it varies sightly but most images just have Our Lady showing a bit of hair around her head. There are however exceptions to this, including images of Our Lady where her hair isn't covered at all, such as Our Lady of the Green Scapular and Our Lady Undoer of Knots.

Here are a few images of my Our Lady of Hope Statue, it is quite a unique image of Our Lady:

I think I've figured out why Our Lady of Hope was sculpted the way she was. I think this statue of Our Lady was made specifically to emphasize her Virgin Motherhood. Her left side, with more of her hair showing, and her touching her womb represents her Motherhood, while her right side, where she's covering her hair more, represents her Virginity. Also when look very closely at her face, I've noticed that the left side of her face is smiling more, and has a more tender expression.

I like it, it's a really nice touch.

Another update to my Home Altar! Having moved out of my apartment I spent most of this afternoon unpacking and re-aranging things in my room. None of the new stuff on my altar comes from my apartment, all of it was sitting around my room, and I figured I would put it ad it to my altar. The things I've added are a catechetical pamphlet, a Magnificat prayer card, a pamphlet on how to say the rosary, (which I'll use to teach my mom how to say the rosary) and a small paper on the Seven Sorrows of Our Lady: (which is not visible in this photo)

Here's some pictures of my statue of Our Lady of Fatima, by far the favourite of all my statues, namely because I love Our Lady of Fatima so much! Every time I go into my room, I have to go up to my statue of her and pray to her for a bit, (usually to offer thanksgiving to her for the role she played in saving my soul) that's how much I love Our Lady of Fatima!

I love your pregnant statue. You need to get Joseph and Jesus :)
Thanks, it's called "Our Lady of Hope" they usually sell it around Advent season, although I ordered mine in the spring and it actually arrived right on the Feast of the Visitation what are the odds of that!?! Adding the angel statues to her to make her resemble the Ark of the Covenant was really nice touch, I didn't expect it to have such a good aesthetic effect, but it just really works.

In regards to statues of Jesus and St. Joseph, I do have them, but they're currently stored away at the moment, here's some photos of them:

My local Catholic book store has the Our Lady of Hope statues. My wife would murder me if I brought more icons or statues into the house lol. We look like a church.

Heh, I wonder what my future wife will think of my giant collection of books, statues and other religious stuff? I really need cut back on this, but like I said before, there are a few more specific statues I want to get, like a statue of St. Junipero Serro, mainly because so many liberals want to smash them.:D

Bedside alter promises a prayer end to the day and a restful sleep :). Love it man. Home/work alters are the best. I have to be careful lest I covet your icons and JLOL statues!

All of your home altars/icon corners are amazing!

I am expecting a couple of things to come this week to add to my own altar. When it is updated I will post a picture for you to see :)

Here's some more photos of my Sacred Heart and Mary Undoer of Knots statues I placed back up a few days ago, I'm pretty I posted pictures of both these statues here before (In fact a photo of my Sacred Heart Statue is posted just above) but I'd figured I'd post these newer photos of them:

Tomorrow I'm going to be my statue of Our Lady of Grace to my more reverent parish and having it blessed by a priest, then I'm going to try and find a better place for it in my room. I've been praying more to Mary under her title Our Lady of Grace and it has proven very helpful for me.

Well, I finally rearranged the top of my bedside bookshelf, now when I sleep, I can sleep with a good reminder of whose watching over me. Unfortunately a lot of the pictures came out a bit blurry, the lighting most have been off in my room:

Here they are, photos my statue of Our Lady of Grace, I got it blessed this morning by my priest after confession:

Here's also a photo of this little shrine/altar of Our Lady the Dawn Gate Mother of Mercy that I got for Christmas:
