  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

that's wonderful! :) thanks for sharing about your prayer corners :hug:Isabella, I'd love to see a photo! if you have the time of course! :)

Jason, it actually is a Guardian Angel, because it says "guardian angel" on it in Russian :) but you're right it looks a lot like Archangel Michael! They had an icon of him too at the store.

I used to have a prayer area, but now i don't because we added more furniture to the room and it meant this was no longer possible. I found that i didn't really use it that much anyway, because i did not feel comfortable where it was. Nowadays there are religious statues, crucifixes, spiritual reading material, rosaries etc in just about every room of the house. Workmen who have been in the house have even commented on how evident it is that i am Catholic!

I will post pictures of some of my favourite things that call my mind to the Lord, if you like. It will be tomorrow as i am going to bed very soon :)

Yeah, I had to look twice too haha!

I have an 'altar' set up that was designed to be a location of prayer, but the chosen location was a little inconvenient. It has rosaries, some icons, bible, prayer book and catechism etc. I'll see if I can get some pics :)

i have an Orthodox prayer rope near my bed, I got it at a coptic church, unlike most prayer ropes i have seen this one has beads like a rosary, I wonder if the copts use beads because the muslims use beads in there Tasbih, which the muslims use to keep track of praising God?

Here's a small selection of some of the things that help to raise my thoughts to God.

1, A solid brass crucifix i bought from a parish fair.

2, A picture holder containing a card depicting an icon that my friend wrote and on the other side of the picture holder there is a photo of my girl (far right), about 10 years ago, when she was in a school play at primary school.

3, An icon of St. Michael the Archangel, that i bought for my son when he became Catholic, it now resides in the living room.

4, This is a photo of the mantlepiece over my fire.On the shelf is a statue of The Pieta that i purchased on Caldey Island, also a diptych, a triptych and an icon of Jesus the Good Shepherd.

5, Last but not least is a lovely little prayer box that contains a few of my heartfelt prayers written in tiny letters, on tiny little scraps of paper. Miss Shelby sent it to me a few years ago.

It was so hard to choose what to put here!

I LOVE all of your altars! Aren't our Lord and Lady so beautiful!

In my room I have pictures of Jesus' Divine Mercy and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. I also have an image of the Sacred Heart and by my bed I have a Crucifix that I kiss before going to bed and before getting up to remind myself that I love my Jesus each moment of my life!

We don't have a true altar, but have things scattered around our house. I have plans for a home altar when we get to the front room though.
In the mean time, the mantle of the fireplace has a statue of the Holy Family and one of our Lady. The bookshelf next to it has the statue of Saint Joseph and there is a crystal cross that Bill gave me when we first met.
On the wall oposite the fireplace there is an icon styled San Damiano crucifix and in the nook where we eat there is an icon of our Lady.
There is a crucifix and a guardian angel icon in Joseph's room and rosaries and bibles on our nightstand.
