  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hmm, I see. Thanks. I'm just saying this is Catholic doctrinal belief. Protestants don't see it that way. In discussing and questioning things, it's kind of hard to do so without some debate. If one person asks a question, there are probably going to be two or three people with differing answers which will, of course, cause some debate. I'm not sure how to keep from it to some extent even though it's not specifically a debate forum. Anytime you have differing ideas as to what the truth of something is, how do you keep from debating it or questioning it?

But your different ideas are misrepresentations of our beliefs. I am not debating but correcting something that was said that is not true about my faith.

Exchanging ideas are fine and having different beliefs are fine too, but saying we believe things we do not does not fit into that category, IMO.
