  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It was wonderful. We had an awesome priest come and do mass for us. He explained everything, which was awesome for me. Washing of feet, the incense, hiding of Christ, processional... *sigh*... Lovely...

Afterward, we went downstairs and had a nice little dinner with dishes made my churchmembers. It was wonderful. We talked about all different kinds of things, my favorite being languages, of course. :D I talked with Father, and with my friends, and with my new friend, a hispanic girl that speaks mostly Spanish. :) I just had an awesome time. It was a feeling that I can sum up in one word... family.

What's a narthex? And why did your service last 2 hours?

Narthex is the name of the hallway or room before you enter the church - not all church's have them.

I guess it lasted 2 hours because we had alot of feet washing going on :D

Well one church I went to had a windowed room at the back where people could take their crying babies. I thought that was pretty neat. Of course, our parish's church is very small, so it doesn't have more than a few feet before you're in the sanctuary. :)

Hehe, we had less than 12. I thought that traditionally, there was only supposed to be 12 people having their feet washed to symbolize the 12 Apostles.

The number of people who are to have their feet washed according to the rubrics are 12. Our mass also lasted 12 hours, but that is only because we have an AWESOME liturgist and an even more amazing priest. Every year they manage to increase reverence and awe of God especially during the Triduum. Our Easter Vigil, at which 18 were baptized, last just short of 4 hours! It was the fastest 4 hours of my life, and also some of the most amazing hours of my life.

God is definitly good.
