  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I saw it today. I thought it was pretty good. Not as great as I thought it would be. Oscar? I don't think so. But I have been wrong before.
Go check it out and given your input.

It stars Ben Affleck as George Reeves--1950's TV Superman.

I usually like something which imitates film noir of the 50's or is a good mystery and was particularly interested in the fate of former Superman RV Star- George Reeves. This film was neither although the performances were excellent especially Diane Lane as the older woman in Reeve's life and Bob Hoskins. Ben Affleck seemed a bit wooden in his performance but that is how George Reeve seemed in all of his. I think he did a good imitation of Reeves. Overall though I found it disappointing and depressing. Siskel and Ebert had given it two thumbs up, too! I won't be renting or buying the DVD.

I will see it soon. I remember George Reeves as the 50’s Superman.

Look up in the sky it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Superman. Faster then a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings with a single bound. And who disguised as Clark Kent a mild mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper … [can anybody remember the last line?]

Just saw this today and thought it was an excellent film. The performances were all around top notch and Affleck was fantastic as George Reeves. I wouldn't be surprised if he were to get an Oscar nomination. Surprisingly he won an award at the Venice Film Festival. I've heard some say it is a bit slow but I didn't think so...with this type of film it isn't bound to be a fast paced film. I liked how the filmmakers allow the audience to think about the different scenario's surrounding George Reeves death. I definitely recommend it.
