I think it's very clear that you believe that following the written letter is tantamount to picking up your cross. Am I correct?
If this is correct, what is your motivation?
I think doing what God tells me in the written letter is obeying Him.
So long as law makes you relate to the old creation, it will bind the conscience, creating a connection to the past, we were born again. I would advise an in depth study or Rom, 6, to see how we died to sin, law, and flesh, and are raised up...
That is the problem with law sanctification, it is what they had at the temple, that God allowed to crumble, for a reason.
It is quite clear, that we don't want sin reminder Christianity, that is not Holiness..the author wanted, ONCE FOR ALL CLEANSING OF GUILT...
1Otherwise, would they not have ceased being offered, since the worshippers, cleansed once for all, would no longer have any consciousness of sin? 3But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sin year after year. 4For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
To love God and to follow Jesus.
Good. Now, what do you think was Jesus' motivation?
To teach us that the walk is possible in all circumstances, and by faith and in His spirit we can do His Will..
Hmm. I think that falls short. What does the Bible say?
For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall be saved.
What I explained was how "believes" is faith in action..
Good. Now, what do you think was Jesus' motivation?
You tell me.
(John 15:13)Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
that day will come ... when the fall feasts have their fulfillment in Yeshua just like the spring feasts did... they are the shadow of things to come.
For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall be saved.
What I explained was how "believes" is faith in action..
(John 15:13)
He died for us.
The crux of the issue is: mere obedience to the law is motivated by self-preservation. Christ was motivated by self-sacrifice for the benefit of others.
This is the image of God. If you follow Him, doing as He did, you receive His Spirit and His likeness, which is holy and righteous. This why we are no longer in need of the law.
"But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. " Gal 3:25
Please brother, keep your schoolmaster theology, I listen to God. I obey because i love Him, it wasn't always so and i knew that if i loved Him i will obey Him, so now i seek to obey Him. The School master may have been the OC law, but the NT has its own teaching, and if you want to call that law , knock yourself out, the words of Christ and His apostles are my school master and the Holy Spirit my helper, and Jesus my redeemer.
It's not my theology. It's Paul's. If you were to obey the OC Laws as opposed to the NT rules, what would be the difference?
