• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just wanted to say hello

I grew up in the Methodist church, and my faith in God and relationship with God is stronger than ever, while my theology at the moment is going through a re-evaluation stage. I've begun to question a lot of things I've always taken for granted. I have found that my questions are not welcome at church--too many people mistake them for attacks, or don't take my questions seriously (I'm tired of hearing "just pray about it dear, and God will show you why we're right" ) Anyway, I hope that I can engage in some meaningful dialogue here.

peace,

Hi! Here is the answer to your question.

.:Blessings:.
How Blessings Work

The Blessings system is a unique and original feature of Christian Forums, not found anywhere else. Essentially, it allows more interactivity between members and other members, and between members and the site itself.

How to GAIN blessings:

1. Be nice to other members and they can bless you by clicking the blessings icon underneath your posts!

2. Make new posts and you get 1 blessing per post.

3. Get a top arcade score and you get 1,000 blessings instantly.

4. Donate and become a Site Supporter and you get 1,000 blessings for each dollar you donate!

How to USE blessings:

1. Bless other members by clicking on the blessing icon (red heart and cross) under their posts, or on their blessing count itself.

2. Play an Arcade game for 10 blessings.

3. Get a Post Signature for 50 blessings.

4. Get a Profile Photo for 150 blessings.

5. Get a Custom Avatar for 200 blessings.

6. Get a Custom CF Homepage and Domain Name for 1000 blessings.

Remember, you can be creative with blessings. In the past, members have held competitions, played games, and exchanged blessings in other interesting ways. Note that you are not allowed to "beg" or "solicit" blessings for nothing in return in posts or PMs.

Enjoy blessing each other, and remember - it's more blessed to give than to receive!

What is reputation? Its a system under which your posts can be rated by other fellow members. At any time you have a certain amount of reputation, which determins reputation status.

What are the possible reputation statuses?

Here's a listing (number of reputation required is on the left). Of course, this is all subject to change at any time.
-999999 User is infamous around these parts
-50 User can only hope to improve
-10 User has a little shameless behaviour in the past
0 User is an unknown quantity at this point
10 User is on a distinguished road
50 User will become famous soon enough
150 User has a spectacular aura about
250 User is a jewel in the rough
350 User is just really nice
450 User is a glorious beacon of light
550 User is a name known to all
650 User is a splendid one to behold
1000 User has much to be proud of
1500 User has a brilliant future
2000 User has a reputation beyond repute

How does one increase/decreease reputation?

Next to each post there is a "rate" button. You can click on it and rate a post. Whether you approve or disaprove a certain number of reputation will be altered in the user's rep who made the post. You can also leave a comment to explain your rating - the user will be able to see your comment, but won't know you made it. (do not include your name in the comment - it is for comments about the post only. Finally any scheme of "you rate me good, I'll do the same for you", will result in a long ban without warning.

How is determined the number of points that is given/subtracted by a rating?

Whenever someone gives a rating, they go through a series of checks to determine "reputation altering power". The total of these checks is how much reputation is altered or added. Here are some examples:
-For every 365 number of days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
-For every 1000 number of posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
-For every 100 points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
Additionally users with very little post count or very bad reputation will not have any reputation-altering power altogether.

For every 365 days registered, you gain 1 point of reputation-altering power*.

For every 100 posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power*.
You must have 100 posts before your reputation hits count on others.
You must have 100 reputation points before your reputation hits count on others.
You may only give 10 reputation clicks per 24-hour period.
You must give 20 users reputation clicks before you can hit the same person again.

*Reputation-altering power: By clicking on this icon (), located at the bottom of every post, you can either increase or decrease someone's reputation points.

Here would be an example: Lets say you have 300 posts, have been registered for just over a year and have a reputation of 100.

300 Posts: 3 Points
365+ Days: 1 Point
Rep of 100: 1 point

In this example, when you click this icon under someone's post, you can either increase or decrease that person's reputation 5 points. You may only do this 10 times per 24-hour period and have to hit 20 users before you can hit the first person again.
