  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hmmmmm....

well i have an interesting story. I was adopted when i was born and i don't know my bloodlines religion (if any). However, I was adopted into a family where my mother was christian, and my father was Jewish. making me, somehow, atheist...

The reason I am on this forum is because i want to believe (preferably Christianity). But, i find that there is so much disproof against all religions that it is difficult for me to find my way, so to speak.

so, Ill be producing a topic (if i can ever find my way around the forums) that will allow any Christians out there to convert me, if possible.

Hello and welcome to CF.

I'd like to tell you that it won't be us to convert you to Christianity, it's God who will do that. What we are going to do is to answer your questions as good as possible and show you the way, in the light of Jesus' teachings. The rest is up to you. God CAN definitely change you, but you also have to be willing to learn and open your heart for Him! :)

Take care and God bless you!

Hi Ghost.

Both my parents were atheists, one of Christian background, the other of Jewish background. I grew up as an atheist, and have a strong interest in logic and the scientific method. I also became a Christian. But I can't give you any arguments to convince you, because being a Christian is an act of faith. It is a spiritual connection.

So how does an atheist make this spiritual connection? I can only share how it happened for me. If you click on my user name you can read this in my profile.

And now that I'm thinking about this, maybe there is a web page with testimonies from former atheists. It would be interesting to read the ways this can happen.

I, too, went through a time where I allowed "man's" version of history and interpretation of the world to cloud the reality of God's truth.

"Disproofs" of "religion" may be many... in fact, I would say that there may very well be valid arguments against "man's" invented religions.

God's reality is outside of Man's interpretation, because He is real...He is the Creator and in all that is good. He is not a figment of literature or a cartoonish old man figure.

Look for God in the simplicity of Love, and in the complexity of life.
