I am not even sure if this fits here - but hoping some of you 'thought provokers' could mull these few questions over and provide me with your thoughts.

My husband and I were discussing Creation and such and a few questions came to mind. Not questions that need to be answered - as I know that I will never comprehend God in all His power and glory...but questions that I though 'Hey, this could make for some good conversation on Christian Forums'..lol.

So here they are;

The are both based on the idea that before the Fall, there was no death (which I believe).

so;

1. Had there have been no 'Fall', would we be overpopulated? Logical conclusionists would say, indeed we would be.

2. The food provided to Adam and Eve, was it provided for nourishment, or enjoyment. What would happen if they did not eat...as there is no death.

3. Was there entropy (decay) prior to the fall? If not, would a branched picked for food remain 'fresh' if left 'uneaten'.

I dont even know if these 'thoughs to ponder' belong here - so feel free to 'move' them if need be. I just thought it would be fun to chew these over. Perhaps they are silly...but thought they were food for thought (pun definately intended).

Thanks

First of all i have no problems with this because even when it seems impossible for man it isn't impossible for god. Second, the world before fall cannot be described with the experiences we make today - it was too different.

But here are my thoughts: :)

1. Universe is big enough , maybe the next planet for colonisation would have been Mars, but after fall maybe the planet became the desert as we know it today. (You also should notice that there are many places on earth which are not inhabited like the poles or deserts). And even when the universe seems to get full there can be more and more galaxies (or even universes?) added .

2. there are several answers to that: eating could be just fun or god would protect them from starving by leading their ways to the nearest fruits. :p
But the easiest answer is: in a perfect world, some things would never happen ;)

3. plants were allowed for food, so there is no problem with the decay of them .

as i said above i think it isn't possible to make any correct statements about the pre-fall world - only when it is clearly stated in the bible. but it cannot be proven nor evaluated with human thoughts (until the day we are in paradise)

Just might. I don't believe in the "no (physical) death before the fall", largely because it gives rise to problems like these---and of course because we have ample evidence of death before the existence of humanity.

So here they are;

The are both based on the idea that before the Fall, there was no death (which I believe).

so;

1. Had there have been no 'Fall', would we be overpopulated? Logical conclusionists would say, indeed we would be.

Yes, indeed, and not only an overpopulation of humans, but of every species of every sort. The only way to avoid it would be for God to rescind the command to multiply as each species reached its optimum population level. Plants might be excepted as they would need to be renewed to provide food for other species---but then on to your next question.

2. The food provided to Adam and Eve, was it provided for nourishment, or enjoyment. What would happen if they did not eat...as there is no death.

I have no idea what would happen to Adam and Eve. Would they feel hunger pangs? OTOH, it also raises the question of how they could eat without causing the death of what they were eating.

Here is another question. What if one of them were bitten by a mosquito? Would it not be a natural thing to swat at the insect? Would the smacked mosquito still live?

3. Was there entropy (decay) prior to the fall? If not, would a branched picked for food remain 'fresh' if left 'uneaten'.

Well, entropy is not decay, so the question as stated is meaningless. Entropy is the tendency of heat in a system to distribute itself evenly over the system until no further heat transfer is possible without an influx of energy from outside the system.

OTOH if we simply ask about decay, that does pose some questions. If there was no decay, why would decay-producing organisms be created? Yet, if there were no decay-producing organisms, what would happen to all the excrement created by all the animals of the world? Without decay-producing organisms to take care of the waste, Eden would not long be a pleasant place to walk around in!

Furthermore, plants need decay-producing organisms to break down material in the soil to a liquid form which roots can absorb.

Yes, food for thought indeed. And not so silly either.
