• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Heya I'm new here. A lil bout myself...

I'm a 21 year old Episcopalian. Served a little over a year in the army, got an honorable discharge after a suicide attempt. I am a recovering drug addict, found god and got off (still trying to kick some tho). I've done coke, meth, pot, heroine, perscription drugs, alcahol. Name it i've probably done it. I'm trying to turn my life around and go to school to be a youth minister so i can spread my knowledge of what i went through to the youth and help em not go down the road that i did.

Thats a lil bout me... I hope to enjoy my stay here and post quite a bit.

wow. teaching youth is a huge jump. it has the highest in the churches for roll-over of workers. i was in the youth field for a few years. worked with several pastors. the biggest jump is to tune into the teen walk. you know: walk the walk and talk the talk.
since you are in recovery, from my exsperiance, i'd say that finding a christian support program would enable you to live out both giving and recieving. like Aquire the Fire, Teen Mania, Mercy Ministries, Teen Challenge, etc. it may take some time combing through places for the right fit. but if your heart strings are pulled to youth, you need to start somewhere. our youth field is always in need. i pray for blessings on your road forward. xo dee
