when 9-11 happened we did two things wrong.

1) we told the whole world our war strategies. france did that in one of the world wars, i think it was the second world war (sorry, i'm tired). when i went to germany about ten years ago some of our shows came on their tv. they watch our news you know. if you want you can read the french news on the internet. bush had to make a desicion but i think he should have approached it differently. otherwise i like him as a president.

2) we have once again, had another vietnam pointless war with men and woman pointlessly missing their families, losing body parts and dieing. i say bring the troops back NOW.

it makes my stomach turn from the time i saw the towers falling on tv that morning 9-11, to watching us over in iraq the way we are handling 9-11. i am conservative when i vote but my parents who are conservative do not agree with me about brining the troops home. so i know many people will have many ideas. these are just mine.

Agree on this issue completely. Bring the troops home immediately; no more "stay the course" nonsense that is responsible for thousands of unnecessary deaths.

anyone else reminded of this old song?

WAIST DEEP IN THE BIG MUDDY

It was back in 1942, I was a member of a good platoon
Out on manoeuvres in Louisiana one night by the light of the moon
The Captain told us to ford the river, that's how it all began
We were knee deep in the Big Muddy and the big fool said to push on

The Sergeant said, Sir, are you sure this is the way back to base
Sergeant go on I forded this river not a mile above this place
It'll be a little soggy but keep on slogging, we'll soon be on dry ground
We were waist deep in the Big Muddy and the big fool said to push on

The Sergeant said, sir, with all this equipment no man will be able to swim
Sergeant, don't be a nervous nellie, the Captain said to him
All we need is a little determination, men follow me - I'll lead on
And we were neck deep in the Big Muddy and the big fool said to push on

All of a sudden the moon clouded over, and we heard a gurgling cry
A few seconds later the Captain's helmet was all that floated by
The Sergeant shouted, Turn around, men, I'm in charge from now on
And we just made it out of the Big Muddy with the Captain dead and gone

I ain't gonne point any moral you can do that for yourself
Maybe you're still walking, maybe you're still talking, maybe you'd like to keep your health
But every time I read the paper that old feeling comes on
We are waist deep in the Big Muddy and the big fool says to push on

Waist deep in the Big Muddy and the big fool says to push on
Waist deep in the Big Muddy and the big fool says to push on
Waist deep, neck deep, even a tall man be over his head
We're waist deep in the Big Muddy, and the big fool says, push on

Even before our troops went into Afghanistan some on the left were comparing the war to Vietnam.
Iraq, not Afghanistan. Regardless, so what?

Makes no sense.
Indeed, your post seems rather pointless.

I bet the SOME on the right felt the same way. So what? SOME people wanted to drop a nuclear bomb. SOME on the right didn't want to go into Iraq or Afghanistan.

I can make claims like this all day long.

I was not opposed to going into Afghanistan at the time. There was a meaningful amount of international support and clearly they were harboring Al Qaeda/Bin Ladin.

I was strongly opposed to going into Iraq because it was obvious that Bush had not made a good case for it. It was very clear that he simply wanted a war. That was obvious from the moment that he started began to push for it.

Bush then proceeded to mess up terribly by virtually ignoring Afganistan and then sucking our remaining resources into his misguided war on Iraq.

And now both places are falling apart.

Bush is a disaster on multiple fronts and almost every issue.
